Cactusbloom
Tidalclan ∙ Fighter ∙ She-cat ∙ 32 moons
Appearance
Description sentence:
A brown, tabby she-cat, with spots of orange and white throughout her pelt and amber eyes.
Appearance:
Cactusbloom is a gorgeous tabby, with a mixture of stripes and splotches of white and orange. Her main coloring on her pelt is a red wood brown with darker, almost-black striping. She has a white underbelly, muzzle, and paws. The touches of orange and white began to coat her pelt once she got to about 12 moons old. Her fur is thick and long, which during the dry seasons makes for an unbearable heat blanket, and during the wet seasons, stayed incredibly damp most of the time. The she-cat, while smaller due to gender and genetics, is a very muscular feline. She takes pride in power, so whenever she gets the chance, she's either training or hunting rather dangerous prey to stay in the best shape. All over her body, she has patches of fur that is missing due to scar tissue. Her glowing amber eyes are often haunting due to their eerie bright color and her darker pelt.
Personality
Positive Traits: • Determined • Goal Oriented • Powerful | Negative Traits: • Aggressive • Blunt • Merciless |
Personality:
Cactusbloom, as a kit, was a gentle and wide-eyed, curious soul. She loved adventure, playing with her brother, exploring the camp, and snuggling her mother. But as she was taken under Tigerscream's care, everything soon changed. He made everything a competition between her brother and Cactusbloom; and if she won, she won affection, if she lost, she was denied attention. This kind of mental abuse at such a young age caused Cactusbloom to earn her competitive nature. It also made Cactusbloom mean. She was constantly accused of being "overly aggressive", constantly would talk back, and had no filter on her mouth.
Being blunt and aggressive made the she-cat very isolated by her peers and elders. Not that she wanted friends, but she did have the dream to become next chief. Hard working and determined, the she-cat spent hours of the day, often practicing by the lightning bug and moonlight, to get stronger. All she wanted was to become chief. She threw away making a family of her own, immediately begged for fledglings, and was always first to volunteer for patrols. She loves her clan, and wants it to be the best,
Although an important asset in the clan's defenses, her behavior towards others is unacceptable. Unruly, violent, and vile, she doesn't take being told no kindly. As proven by her ex-fledgling, she acts with tooth and claw more than words and strikes others down without just cause. She's irritable and has a distaste for Tinystar and her rule.

Character Background
Family:
Mother: Hibiscusrain
Father: Tigerscream
Brother: Vinetangle
History:
Kithood
The union of Hibiscusrain and Tigerscream was a bit of a surprise amongst Tidalclan. Their polar opposite natures made them an unlikely pair, but never-the-less, when Hibiscusrain found out that she'd be having kits, the clan was ecstatic to welcome new additions. Cactuskit, while small and wiggly, put up a lot of fight immediately in the nursery. Using her sharp teeth whenever anything came near her, her mother quickly named her after the sharp spines of the cactus. But soon after Vinekit and Cactuskit were born, the apparent differences in the kits' parents grew. Very religious fighters, they grew to strongly uphold the chief's decree and worship the god's that looked after the island. Anyone who was against the god's, or even slightly doubted their will, was deemed an enemy.
What differed so much between the two was how they withheld, and acted upon, their ideals. Hibiscusrain was a strong, level-headed fighter. She believed that, while everyone had a voice, there must be justice to wrong doers. She was often quiet, and listened more than talked back. She valued each day as a blessing from the gods. She was a kind and steady mentor to those around her. The she-cat's mate on the other hand, was quite the opposite. Tigerscream was a force not to be reckoned with. A brut tom, he was known as one of the top fighters in the clan, taking out his enemies with shear strength. He often used his claws and teeth first, and asked questions later. He was also one to cause commotion at borders and meetings alike. He preached that Tidalclan was the strongest clan, and that the gods favored them.
As the kits became a few moons old, they started developing a close connection with one another. Cactuskit loved her brother. She adored his cool demeanor and wanted to constantly sneak out with him to cause mischief. But as they grew, their parents had different ideas on how to raise them and quickly separated the two. Cactuskit was mentored and raised by her father, and Vinekit with his father. Tigerscream slowly started to instill ideas into Cactuskit's mind, causing her to have a shift in her personality. A once playful and sweet kit, the she-cat soon became overly competitive with everyone, including her own brother. She, too, believed in Tigerscream's ideals, snubbing Jungleclan as the lesser clan and listening to his false stories of how Jungleclan gave up their beliefs and became weaker because the gods were angry with them. As they approached apprenticeship, Cactuskit already knew she'd grow to be the stronger fighter, and later, the most powerful chief.
Apprenticeship
As Vinekit and Cactuskit were giving their new names as apprentices, Cactuspaw feverishly became obsessed with training and becoming more powerful. Slightly smaller than her male peers, the she-cat learned how to manipulate their weight and size quickly. She loved learning battle techniques, so much, that even after a long day of training, she went on to train under her father's guidance. Tigerscream praised his daughter constantly, fueling her aggression and taste for power. Her brother, while close as kits, slowly became distant from her as the moons passed. His mother taught him strong will, but in a more reserved and level-minded way. Their differences caused a shift in their friendship, and with Cactuspaw's competitive nature, pushed him away.
Cactuspaw, although skilled in battle, was not an asset when it came to hunting. She became bored with tracking prey and staying quiet, which earned her nothing but ridicule from her mentor. She was nowhere near quiet, and often struck too early, scaring the prey away.
Time and time again, she was scolded for her poor hunting abilities. She argued that a good fighter was just as valuable, if not more, than a hunter, but she was dismissed. As her 12th moon approached, she began to worry that she wouldn't become a fighter because of this. Since Cactuspaw already honed down on battle techniques, she begged her father to teach her how to make hunting more fun. Tigerscream, much to his pleasure, taught Cactuspaw an unspeakable skill; hunting for sport. Together, the father and daughter pair tackled dangerous prey. Scorpions, large, violent boars, eels, anything to get a fight out of the prey. Tigerscream's personality spread to Cactuspaw the more they bonded. She became short-tempered, not truly knowing her place and often talking back. She was a little too aggressive with her clanmates and wasn't attempting to make friends while in training. When Cactuspaw finally reached her 12th moon within Tidalclan, she was still a little sloppy hunting prey for the clan. But, no surprise to her, still made it to her ceremony and was bestowed her fighter name.
Becoming a Fighter
Named Cactusbloom, she was given the suffix bloom as a nod to her beautiful fur, which earned orange and white spots as she aged on top of her tabby pelt, but also towards her growth as a fighter. Headstrong and fiercely loyal to Tidalclan, Cactusbloom was an asset to Tidalclan's forces. While still a below average hunter, her perseverance and strength impressed her elder fighters. Even though her training was over, Tigerscream and Cactusbloom still enjoyed their dangerous hunts together. And when they weren't hunting, they'd patrol or explore the territory together, passing tongues about their goals for Tidalclan.
Shortly after becoming a fighter, she was given Baypaw as her fledgling to train. She greedily accepted, knowing she could train a fledgling better than any of the other fighters. She'd prove her worth to the elder fighters. Cactusbloom worked with the tom, often sending him to the healer's den for minor cuts and bruising. She show him strength, to want to become the strongest of his pledge class. But her training methods slowly started to turn heads, whispering of the violent and harsh treatment towards her fledgling. Eventually, the apprentice spoke with the chief and was put under Tinystar's wing. This angered Cactusbloom, making her resent her chief and Baypaw for his weakness.
Never discourgaged, Cactusbloom slowly became more obsessed with the thought of making Tidalclan stronger. How she could accomplish it. How she'd become deputy, then chief. How'd she'd set aside the idea of love and becoming a mother to obtain power, faster. And she didn't just stop at that; as she interacted with Jungleclan at the border or at the meetings, she did not hide her distaste for their kind. Tidalclan, she believed, should be the one true clan of the island. The she-cat even believed they could run the twolegs off their island if they sacrificed enough to the gods. Tigerscream told Cactusbloom of the large tiger that once roamed the forest, striking fear into those around it. That she embodied the spirit of that tiger and was destined for greatness.
Cactusbloom enjoyed mulling over this idea, letting it build the fire that grew in her belly. Power was what she wanted, and power was what she'd get.
