guavacloud
jungleclan ∙ deputy ∙ tom ∙ 43 moons
Appearance
Description sentence:
A large sand-colored tabby tom with amber eyes.
Appearance:
his status as firstborn in his litter is where guavacloud credits his size- as if that actually has anything to do with it besides annoy his siblings. he certainly has been the biggest since birth, though. to this day he boasts an intimidating figure- he's taller than average, with a hefty muscular build. he has broad paws with dark brown pads to match his dark-colored nose. it looks a bit out of place on his very pale face, but is complimented nicely by his equally dark amber eyes. his ears are small, neat, and a soft rosy pink color.
guavacloud's coat is silky and short, with a color more suited to jungleclan's beach-loving neighbors than the forest itself. a cream-colored underside and face melts into indistinct, sandy-colored tabby swirls throughout- darker closest to his tail and haunches.
Personality
Please list at least three positive and three negative traits for your character below.
Positive Traits: • wise • peaceful • hardworking | Negative Traits: • stubborn • pacifist • opinionated |
Personality:
[ wise - peaceful - opinionated - helpful - stubborn - overprotective ]
filling the role of protector has always been natural for guavacloud- he's been doing it all his life. at this point, it has become second nature for him to constantly be looking out for others. the line is awfully thin between helpful and overprotective, though, and he often sways between the two, rarely knowing where to draw the line. this becomes most evident when it comes to cats that he's close to- friends and family. he often behaves something like a fussy mother hen. he tries to rein it in because of all the complaints he's received over the moons, but at this point it seems that those around him should just embrace it.
speaking of being helpful, guavacloud has always tried to be an overachiever, sometimes to his own detriment. the tom will absolutely work himself to the bone if allowed to, and generally has to be ordered to take a break. he has a hard time finding his own 'off switch' and has developed symptoms of anxiety and insomnia because of this.
unfortunately for the folks trying to look out for guavacloud, he is incredibly stubborn. perhaps stemming from his intelligence and strong belief system, or maybe because of the position of protector that he's put himself in, he always thinks he knows best. he'll make his thoughts heard every time, and in his mind disagreement just isn't an option. getting him to do something he doesn't think he should? forget about it. telling him what's best? never. guavacloud isn't generally hot-headed or cocky about this, but perhaps his simple serenity about his right-ness is the most infuriating part of all.
the tom is a wise soul, though. he's spent all of his moons chasing after knowledge and experience, and with a knack for creativity that can give him a unique perspective, he's become quite sharp. and his quest for infinite intelligence is never going to be over. guavacloud has the mindset that anyone can contribute because each individual has a perspective all their own- he'll never talk down to another cat because he feels himself superior in wit. even the youngest kit to the battiest elder can teach him a thing or two.
guavacloud has a calm, peaceful air about him. it's incredibly difficult to throw him off, near impossible to get a rise out of him. this serenity seems to have permeated every aspect of his life and personality and given the tom an optimism that can seem a bit forced at times, but necessary to him to keep control of himself and his emotions. he's a peacemaker, a pacifist. he has come to hate violence in any form, and would do near anything to avoid it. only his love and loyalty to jungleclan can persuade him to break this personal code.

Character Background
Family:
softfoot - mother - deceased
featherjaw - father - deceased
finchkit - sister - deceased
honeywhisker - sister - adoptable
lightdapple - sister - adoptable
History:
feeling charged with looking after two sickly siblings has always left guava with a true sense of responsibility. though of course, he took this charge on himself needlessly and with a false desire for importance at a very early age, it left an impression nevertheless. guavakit was treated well in the nursery, but soon began to struggle with a feeling of shame and guilt over his size, health, and general well being when his tiny, struggling sisters were under the constant fussing of healers and parents alike. perhaps softfoot, their mother, was never meant to be a parent as she herself had been in and out of the medicine cat's den all of her life. she had obviously passed this on to her first and only litter. all the parents' worry couldn't save little finchkit, who didn't make it to her second moon.
fortunately it was around this time it that honeykit and lightkit were finally beginning to find their strength. guavakit, unable to grasp what had happened to his other sibling, was just happy to finally have friends in the nursery. from this time on, bonds were formed between the siblings that would effect the tom for the rest of his moons. he easily slipped into the role of protector, whether the little mollies liked it or not. shenanigans were a-plenty, but he was always supervising with a great sense of purpose. it was childish and unnecessary, but he certainly didn't know that.
however, the loss of her child had sent softfoot back into a spiral of ailing health that took her away from the rest of her kits and put her back in the medicine cat's den. this time it stuck. while her kits were looking forward to their apprentice ceremony, softfoot took on a cough that she couldn't shake.
guavapaw was mentored by a wily old molly named dustclaw. she was a tough, no-nonsense warrior who had trained plenty of apprentices in her time. despite her strict methods and mostly cold manner, guavapaw slowly worked his way into her good graces- he loved the old bat as much as he loved his parents. maybe more, since she seemed like a fountain of knowledge to him at the time. dustclaw opened the young tom's world in way he hadn't imagined, and continues to check in on her in the elder's den today.
when softfoot passed away, the unexpected happened. grief grabbed guavapaw's father by the chest and wouldn't release. featherjaw had always seemed like a strong, if quiet, fellow to the clan. but losing his mate had left an emptiness inside him that he didn't know how to contend with. though he lived long enough to see his children become warriors, he seemed more like a husk than a middle-aged cat full of life yet. he passed away around guavacloud's twentieth moon.
guavacloud, lightdapple, and honeywhisker did drift apart a bit once they were burdened with all the duties of a new warrior. however, losing their father brought them all back to their roots as friends to support one another.
the young warrior was thrilled to have the welcome distraction of his first apprentice soon thereafter. batpaw was certainly a pawful for guava, who knew he could never offer the type of wisdom and guidance as dustclaw had given him. he was intimidated enough by the job itself, but batpaw's apathetic and bored personality was another thing entirely. however, through the virtues of patience and stubbornness in turns, guavacloud gradually softened batpaw's hard exterior to find joy and excitement inside. by the time batpaw earned the name batfang for himself, the pair had bonded against all odds.
moons of hard work saw guavacloud recently named as jungleclan's new deputy, which is a responsibility he had always sought without much realizing his own ambitions. though not one much for cut-throat competition, guavacloud had spent his life volunteering for extra patrols, taking time to train with apprentices, and gathering as much wisdom as he could. certainly leadership was in the back of his mind at times, but now that the responsibility finally weighs heavy upon his shoulders, the tom feels a bit nervous.
