Description sentence: A large sand-colored tabby tom with amber eyes.
Appearance: his status as firstborn in his litter is where guavacloud credits his size- as if that actually has anything to do with it besides annoy his siblings. he certainly has been the biggest since birth, though. to this day he boasts an intimidating figure- he's taller than average, with a hefty muscular build. he has broad paws with dark brown pads to match his dark-colored nose. it looks a bit out of place on his very pale face, but is complimented nicely by his equally dark amber eyes. his ears are small, neat, and a soft rosy pink color. guavacloud's coat is silky and short, with a color more suited to jungleclan's beach-loving neighbors than the forest itself. a cream-colored underside and face melts into indistinct, sandy-colored tabby swirls throughout- darker closest to his tail and haunches.
Personality
Please list at least three positive and three negative traits for your character below.
filling the role of protector has always been natural for guavacloud- he's been doing it all his life. at this point, it has become second nature for him to constantly be looking out for others. the line is awfully thin between helpful and overprotective, though, and he often sways between the two, rarely knowing where to draw the line. this becomes most evident when it comes to cats that he's close to- friends and family. he often behaves something like a fussy mother hen. he tries to rein it in because of all the complaints he's received over the moons, but at this point it seems that those around him should just embrace it.
speaking of being helpful, guavacloud has always tried to be an overachiever, sometimes to his own detriment. the tom will absolutely work himself to the bone if allowed to, and generally has to be ordered to take a break. he has a hard time finding his own 'off switch' and has developed symptoms of anxiety and insomnia because of this.
unfortunately for the folks trying to look out for guavacloud, he is incredibly stubborn. perhaps stemming from his intelligence and strong belief system, or maybe because of the position of protector that he's put himself in, he always thinks he knows best. he'll make his thoughts heard every time, and in his mind disagreement just isn't an option. getting him to do something he doesn't think he should? forget about it. telling him what's best? never. guavacloud isn't generally hot-headed or cocky about this, but perhaps his simple serenity about his right-ness is the most infuriating part of all.
the tom is a wise soul, though. he's spent all of his moons chasing after knowledge and experience, and with a knack for creativity that can give him a unique perspective, he's become quite sharp. and his quest for infinite intelligence is never going to be over. guavacloud has the mindset that anyone can contribute because each individual has a perspective all their own- he'll never talk down to another cat because he feels himself superior in wit. even the youngest kit to the battiest elder can teach him a thing or two.
guavacloud has a calm, peaceful air about him. it's incredibly difficult to throw him off, near impossible to get a rise out of him. this serenity seems to have permeated every aspect of his life and personality and given the tom an optimism that can seem a bit forced at times, but necessary to him to keep control of himself and his emotions. he's a peacemaker, a pacifist. he has come to hate violence in any form, and would do near anything to avoid it. only his love and loyalty to jungleclan can persuade him to break this personal code.
Skills & Combat
Please list at least three strengths/weaknesses your character may have, such as: hunting, fighting, swimming, healing, etc.
History: feeling charged with looking after two sickly siblings has always left guava with a true sense of responsibility. though of course, he took this charge on himself needlessly and with a false desire for importance at a very early age, it left an impression nevertheless. guavakit was treated well in the nursery, but soon began to struggle with a feeling of shame and guilt over his size, health, and general well being when his tiny, struggling sisters were under the constant fussing of healers and parents alike. perhaps softfoot, their mother, was never meant to be a parent as she herself had been in and out of the medicine cat's den all of her life. she had obviously passed this on to her first and only litter. all the parents' worry couldn't save little finchkit, who didn't make it to her second moon.
fortunately it was around this time it that honeykit and lightkit were finally beginning to find their strength. guavakit, unable to grasp what had happened to his other sibling, was just happy to finally have friends in the nursery. from this time on, bonds were formed between the siblings that would effect the tom for the rest of his moons. he easily slipped into the role of protector, whether the little mollies liked it or not. shenanigans were a-plenty, but he was always supervising with a great sense of purpose. it was childish and unnecessary, but he certainly didn't know that.
however, the loss of her child had sent softfoot back into a spiral of ailing health that took her away from the rest of her kits and put her back in the medicine cat's den. this time it stuck. while her kits were looking forward to their apprentice ceremony, softfoot took on a cough that she couldn't shake.
guavapaw was mentored by a wily old molly named dustclaw. she was a tough, no-nonsense warrior who had trained plenty of apprentices in her time. despite her strict methods and mostly cold manner, guavapaw slowly worked his way into her good graces- he loved the old bat as much as he loved his parents. maybe more, since she seemed like a fountain of knowledge to him at the time. dustclaw opened the young tom's world in way he hadn't imagined, and continues to check in on her in the elder's den today.
when softfoot passed away, the unexpected happened. grief grabbed guavapaw's father by the chest and wouldn't release. featherjaw had always seemed like a strong, if quiet, fellow to the clan. but losing his mate had left an emptiness inside him that he didn't know how to contend with. though he lived long enough to see his children become warriors, he seemed more like a husk than a middle-aged cat full of life yet. he passed away around guavacloud's twentieth moon.
guavacloud, lightdapple, and honeywhisker did drift apart a bit once they were burdened with all the duties of a new warrior. however, losing their father brought them all back to their roots as friends to support one another.
the young warrior was thrilled to have the welcome distraction of his first apprentice soon thereafter. batpaw was certainly a pawful for guava, who knew he could never offer the type of wisdom and guidance as dustclaw had given him. he was intimidated enough by the job itself, but batpaw's apathetic and bored personality was another thing entirely. however, through the virtues of patience and stubbornness in turns, guavacloud gradually softened batpaw's hard exterior to find joy and excitement inside. by the time batpaw earned the name batfang for himself, the pair had bonded against all odds.
moons of hard work saw guavacloud recently named as jungleclan's new deputy, which is a responsibility he had always sought without much realizing his own ambitions. though not one much for cut-throat competition, guavacloud had spent his life volunteering for extra patrols, taking time to train with apprentices, and gathering as much wisdom as he could. certainly leadership was in the back of his mind at times, but now that the responsibility finally weighs heavy upon his shoulders, the tom feels a bit nervous.
the young molly stopped short as she snapped her gaze up from her paws to the two cats before her. she shifted uneasily, noticing the tension all at once. or was she making it up? no, no shoalclaw's pettiness generally knew no bounds. the air was thick between the two toms and that was none of her doing- but perhaps she made it worse simply by being there. her father could be tolerable with others when he needed to, but talking about iguanagaze to her as if he weren't tail-lengths away made her physically cringe. "erm," she managed awkwardly in shoalclaw's pause, "I-"
she was happy to let the other tom get a word in edgewise, though of course iguanagaze seemed happy to let her father walk over him. she sighed. she should have just turned around and let these two sort whatever this was out. cinnamonstep certainly didn't have the social skillset required to navigate all of this but it seemed that she was stuck now.
suddenly, cinnamonstep jumped. a squeak might have emerged from her throat. something had just hit her tail! she spun, fully startled, and was faced with nothing. well, nothing out of the ordinary. she was certain she'd heard something though. turning back to her clanmates with a brow raised quizzically, she silently wondered if she was just going crazy. "um, hunting- yes, er- shall we?" the warrior attempted to grapple back her dignity somewhat weakly, and let her gaze drop to her paws once more.
[kelpwave & coralfrost] I can see kelp being extremely curious about coralfrost, and that could definitely lead to a friendship. there's an age gap between them so maybe they don't know each other well at all yet but he's outgoing with everyone anyway. plus I can see him finding her eccentricity very endearing once he's gotten to know her a bit. if you have any thoughts on them lemme know! I'm down for whatever with this guy.
[kelpwave & littleshark] I'm pretty sure these two could be buds! kelpwave assumes he's buds with everyone he encounters really, but I think these two could have a real mutual friendship. kelp is super loyal and enthusiastic. he's down for whatever. although he can be stubborn he's a bit of a dingus so I think her intelligence could aid him in a friendship. he's just a chatty, friendly dude. if you think of anything fun for the two of them to get into lemme know! they're about the same age too so if you think they'd get on well we could just assume they've known each other forever.
the afternoon light pouring down through the canopy left cinnamonstep's deep brown fur dappled with bright golden patches, which swirled over her muscular frame as she prowled through the jungle's undergrowth. pale yellow eyes flashed as she searched for signs of prey somewhat unsuccessfully. no surprise, since the day was a scorcher as expected. it was still so frustrating to come crawling back to camp with empty paws. but she wasn't worried yet. the day was young, she'd make herself useful somehow surely.
the warrior absently supposed she ought to have found herself a hunting patrol to link up with, but the thought was repulsive. more pawsteps would only scare what little prey there was off into the undergrowth- she really couldn't fathom the point of a whole group of cats of trampling through the forest on a hunting mission. patrols as a concept did tend to baffle or irritate her depending on the day- though she would never say as much aloud. she had enough of a time trying to feel like she was in good standing with her clanmates without purposely ruffling feathers, like some of my family likes to do.. she thought, wondering not for the first time how she ended up being the only one who seemed to care how others thought of her. her father was blunt to the detriment of his relationship to others and her sister? a whole different story to herself.
cinnamonstep shook her head with a scowl and chased these thoughts away. focus. the lake water was usually a bit cooler and more refreshing. perhaps some prey was running there. if not, she wouldn't mind a dip in the water herself...
big paws carrying her, the warrior made her way to the body of water quickly. once the thought of dipping herself into the cool(ish) turquoise water entered her mind, it was so tempting she couldn't possibly resist. in fact, as soon as she pushed through the remaining undergrowth around the lake and made it to the shore, she forgot entirely about her hunting mission.
"ahh," she murmured audibly as her feet, as if acting of their own accord, wandered slowly into the swirling pool. ripples lapped at her short pelt, soaking her skin so refreshingly. with only her spine and head exposed to the humid air, cinnamonstep began to listlessly paddle about, kicking at the sand and gravel below to propel herself through the little waves.

Character Name: guavacloud Age in Moons: 43 moons Rank Applying For: jungleclan deputy Why Does Your Character Fit the Role?: guavacloud would fit the role of deputy well for a couple reasons- but the foremost being that he is known to be an intelligent individual. he excels at strategy and planning, looking at every angle of a problem with a creative eye. he's thoughtful in more than one way- as he's known to get along fairly well with cats from all walks of life. he has a diplomatic streak that makes him much prefer civil discussion over conflict. this isn't always a strong suit, since it can make him seem weak-willed in the face of an enemy, but he's become something of a pacifist as he grows older. he would choose peace over dominance any day. however, the flip side of this part of guavacloud is his opinionated attitude. he knows he's a clever cat and he has a tendency to feel that he's always right. he's poor at keeping his mouth shut when he has something to say, and on top of that he's rather stubborn about it too. he's no stranger to disagreements, but this is likely how he was about to develop a knack for working things out peacefully rather than relying on tempers flaring. one reason that guavacloud would be chosen to become jungleclan's next deputy is the fact that his even-tempered mannerisms can quell ivystar's occasionally hot, blunt temper, while his intelligence and knack for strategy compliments hers. they would work well together as a team, though his stubborn streak can certainly make it a challenge at times. over everything, guavacloud would do anything for his clan. he's a noble warrior who would lay down his own life in a heartbeat for the wellbeing of his clanmates. [here's a summary- good: intelligent/creative & diplomatic bad: stubborn & adverse to conflict] Roleplay Sample:
large glowing eyes blinked open, peering owlishly into the pre-dawn gloom. around him were many piles of fur, sweetly rising up and down as the other cats continued to slumber in the warriors den. nests were separated further than usual, everyone trying their best to avoid so much as brushing pelts with one another. even in the coolest hour, it was far too humid for touch. he'd had dreams of swimming along his normal hunting paths through the forest rather than simply walking- the air felt just as thick in waking.
his mind had begun turning quite some time ago- sleeping restfully had never been guavacloud's strong suit. opening his eyes at last felt like finally giving up on sleeping. may as well get the day going. as he stood, the big tom arched his back in as delicate of a stretch as he could muster. he certainly didn't mean to rouse anyone at this hour. the side-eyes would be unbearable. he carefully picked his way around nests to exit the den, pleasantly surprised by a soft breeze that greeted him out in the clearing of camp. it caused the leaves all around to swish and rustle and after the stiff stuffiness of the den it sounded like such a beautiful morning song.
if I leave right now, I could make it back in time to see the dawn patrol go, he weighed his options. he wasn't assigned dawn patrol, but he didn't want to raise suspicions by being gone when his clanmates woke. the only option was to sit around and be useless, wishing he was still sleeping. noting that, he trotted out of camp.
guavacloud looked up, noticing that the stars were just beginning to fade. hints of warm color prying through the canopy. it was a cloudless twilight in spite of the occasional soft breeze. he tried not to get his hopes up about the weather turning any time soon. countless birds would begin their cacophony within the hour, and then he would have to head back. until then, the big ginger held his body low to the ground, treading lightly along barely-there paths worn by moons of jungleclan paws. gauvacloud allowed his senses to hone in on his environment, chasing his busy morning thoughts away with the scent of several mice in his area.
ears pricked up, the tom's dark brown nose twitched a bit. his jaw parted. everything but his gaze had pinpointed one small rodent rooting around in the undergrowth several paces away. confidently, guavacloud prowled that way to land a swift pounce and bite, and dropped it into a divet he dug in the earth for later retrieval.
some time later, as the he made his way deeper into the forest catching what he could and cursing any misses, guavacloud suddenly heard a scream overhead. after the welcome quiet, it startled a swear out of him. of course it was just a monkey- he swore he could imagine it cackling at his sudden fright as it dashed gracefully away, branch to branch. as if this were a signal to every being in the jungle, the trees came alive with noise. songs and screeches alike ringing and echoing, guavacloud knew it was time to head back.
he picked up his several successful grabs from his little solo hunt and trotted briskly back to the camp, pleased with himself to have grabbed a few clanmates some breakfast in the very least. not such a bad start to the day.
Other Info: almost every high rank I've ever filled has been a deputy, which then sometimes ends up as a leader. I'd consider myself a deputy enthusiast. it's a good rank. feels important, not too important.
Description sentence: A short-haired black tom with pale mint eyes.
Appearance: Kelpwave is right about average in general size, but his build is quite muscular. He seems to be built for physical power, as he excels in things like swimming and running due to his hefty frame. The tom takes pride in his coat, though. In length it is short and plush, but all striking black like a new moon. He washes it frequently enough to seem vain, but it's truly so dark it becomes dusty almost immediately after being cleaned. There's nary a white hair to be found on him- his toes, claws, whiskers and nose are all the same inky tone. Kelpwave's eyes are a clear, very pale green-silver.
Personality
Please list at least three positive and three negative traits for your character below.
Personality: Kelpwave has always been sure of himself. Confidence has never been a problem for this tom, and this self-sureness is likely the cause of his stubbornness as well. Though he doesn't claim to be the smartest, somehow he always thinks he's right anyway. While he'll listen to everyone's thoughts, he'll probably just go ahead and do his first plan anyway. In fact, his unwillingness to think things through has gotten him into plenty of trouble through the moons, and he can even seem a little hot-headed when it comes right down to it. Nevertheless, this can be an asset to him when initiative needs to be taken, or enthusiasm is required. Loyalty unwavering, Kelpwave would do anything for his clan, even if he must do it his own way.
The young warrior is a very sociable fellow. He won't hesitate to strike up a conversation with anyone, friend or not. But it's hard for him to imagine not being friends with anyone. It's simply in his nature to acquaint himself with anyone who will give him the time of day. The kind of energy work both to his benefit and detriment, as his sunny disposition can become grating after a while and his ever-present pep can turn his optimism into foolishness. Still, he is always happy to lend a paw to someone in need, and always offers a shoulder to lean on.

Character Background
Family: Rainpatch - brother
History: Born to two decided unmated cats, Rainkit and Kelpkit mostly just had each other throughout their youth. The brothers had always been inseparable. Though individually their parents did care for the kits and do their best to give them attention, the vehemence the adults felt for one another often got in the way of family time- which ended in bickering or full out fights more often than not.
Apprenticeship found Kelppaw in the hands of a capable but distracted younger warrior. His mentor was a molly who liked to spend more time shirking responsibilities than going out of her way to get things done. Thankfully, his brother's mentor was a much more responsible cat who was happy to spend spare time with Kelppaw under their wing. Of course the brothers were always happy to train together anyway. It made work seem more like play to them. Between the two of them, they got into plenty of trouble. Rainpaw was always a flirt and tried to teach his brother his ways, but Kelp was always just a bit too excitable to be a player. Kelppaw's moons as an apprentice came and went happily and smoothly. He earned the name Kelpwave for his enthusiasm and energy. The time that has passed since has been uneventful.
earlier that day, cinnamonstep had slept in much longer than she expected to. surely this was due to the heaviness of the air that kept everyone in camp feeling a little suffocated, and sleeping felt better than the chore of being awake. it made her feel lazy and cranky- two things she prided herself in not being. scorching sands was just the worst. her normally energetic self felt absolutely deflated this time of year.
the warrior craned her neck to squint through the canopy, multitudes of green leaves backlit by the setting sun and lit up in brilliant neon hues. though it was nowhere near refreshing, nighttime put some pep in her step at least. feeling like she needed to make up for the few extra hours of sleep she stole this morning, the young cat set out of camp for the second time that day. her afternoon patrol went fine, but it seemed that most of her clanmates were in a similar state of being as she. everyone surely just wanted to sleep in the shade until the gods pulled the reins on these cruel temperatures.
fallen leaves and warm forest loam cushioned her footfalls, a crunch with every step. in spite of everything, stealth would never be cinnamonstep's strong point. she was thinking this with a bit of disappointment just as a familiar scent met her senses and caused her ears to prick up happily. her father had just come this way recently. the she-cat parted her maw slightly to pinpoint his trail and then picked up her pace to find him.
just as she neared, taking care to try and quiet her steps in case shoalclaw was hunting, cinnamonstep heard a voice that definitely did not belong to her father. she couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed and wished she could turn and disappear back into the forest. but by now she was close enough her scent had surely wafted around her clanmates- she better make herself known. "evenin'," the small she-cat murmured a bit awkwardly as she pushed through the foliage and greeted both iguanagaze and shoalclaw. "prey running yet?"

Description sentence: A small cinnamon brown cat with soft yellow eyes.
Appearance: Cinnamonstep is a slightly built cat. She has a stout, muscular frame and large, powerful paws which seem a bit disproportionate- even clumsy- compared to her smaller-than-average body. She strongly favors her father in appearance. Her short fur is mostly a warm cinnamon bark brown color which is a shade darker around her nose, ears and paws. Her nose and pawpads are shiny black, and there is a noticeable pink scar dashed across the bridge of her nose and a small nick in her left ear. Cinnamonstep's eyes are like shining round moons, pale golden in color.
Personality
Please list at least three positive and three negative traits for your character below.
Personality: Cinnamonstep is known to be a quiet young cat by her clanmates- someone who easily fades into the background. This doesn't bother her. In fact, she prefers it this way because she's always been shy with those she's not close with and has a hard time socializing and making friends. Because of this, Cinnamonstep has always been close to her family- particularly relying on her more outgoing sister to lead the way for most of her life. Cinnamonstep prefers being a follower and leaving the decision-making up to someone else.
She's someone who is always happy to take orders and loves busywork- no task is beneath her. She likes to stay occupied and would certainly be considered a hard worker, loyal to the bone. Cinnamonstep can be very tough on herself. She pushed herself all through her training but that didn't stop when she earned her warrior name. Though shy, she's always looking forward to an opportunity to learn and earn a bit of praise.
When given the opportunity, Cinnamonstep can be clever and creative, but tends to hold herself back with her own uncertainty over her skills. Having always been someone who struggles to take control of a situation, she has very little trust in her own intuition. Still, she tries to maintain a good reputation among her clanmates. Being so laid back makes her a good teammate and a great listener among friends, and has given her a sense of resilience when it comes to insults and disagreements.

Family: Shoalclaw - Father Puffinhop - Mother Cocoafur - Sister
History: Cinnamonstep was born into a litter with just one sibling- her sister Cocoafur. With loving, doting parents, she spent her time in the nursery nothing short of spoiled. However, her sister was always the center of attention and also tended to rope Cinnamon into her antics. As such, Cinnamonstep quickly learned what it meant to be something of a sidekick at a young age and somehow always managed to get punished along with her sister. She just learned to roll with the punches.
Cinnamonstep really learned what contentment felt like when she became an apprentice to a tough old warrior, and he worked her to the bone what felt like every day. She loved it. Having goals to set and someone she actually had to work to impress felt so liberating after being doused in praise for absolutely nothing by her parents up until now. He didn't reward her often, but when she earned it the feeling was like nothing else.
The scars on her face were awarded to her while she was an apprentice by a kite she encountered by chance during a patrol with her mentor. The bird got away but so did she, though her nose and ear will be marked forever. She earned the name Cinnamonstep for her large paws and excellent skills in hunting shortly after the accident, and has only been a warrior for a matter of moons.
