Sandblaze
tidalclan ∙ fighter ∙ tom ∙ 43 moons
Appearance
Description sentence:
Tabby ginger tom with amber eyes and a white chest/underbelly.
Appearance:
Appearance wise, it's not very hard to see where Sandblaze got his name - or at least, the first half of his name. His coat is a rich sandy ginger and even his eyes are a shade of amber that reminds you of being on the beach. He's rather average in size - neither too scrawny or overly muscular, and really the only distinct traits he possesses is a slightly bushy tail, white whiskers, and a white chest/underbelly. Common looks have never really seemed to bother him, though, and he often can be seen walking with a confident stride. His eyes are usually bright with mischief and he'll normally be seen with a playful smile upon his face.
Personality
Please list at least three positive and three negative traits for your character below.
Positive Traits: • Loyal • Friendly • Sharp | Negative Traits: • Mischievous • Outspoken • Vengeful |
Personality:
When one first encounters Sandblaze, his personality can be a bit powerful. He can be a bit of a goofball at times and has a rather strong, positive outlook. He has a friendly, approachable air around him - even occasionally to strangers depending on the situation - and he's certainly not very shy when it comes to including himself into conversations around him. There are moments when he can be rather outspoken, however. He's not afraid to say what he thinks on matters and while he understands that this may not spare feelings, he has a strong belief that it's better to say something outright than to sugarcoat it and let it fester.
Sandblaze is incredibly loyal to his clanmates - while he does have a tendency to be kind to strangers, his clan always comes before anything. This, however, is where his more vengeful side may blossom. He does not take kindly to any harm that's brought upon them and has been known to be relentless in pursuing offenders. This side of him is what eventually lead to the second half of his name - blaze - since he reminded his clanmates of a flaming blaze protecting them.
Added to that, Sandblaze is known to also have a rather witty tongue about him - he was known for his mischief when he was younger - it's slowed down a little now that he's a bit older - but that mischievousness has morphed into dry humor and wit. He enjoys entertaining others when possible and bringing ease to tension.
In spite of his "goofy furball" ways, Sandblaze has proven to have a sharp and quick mind when analyzing a situation at hand. Normally he'd rather keep the whole "serious" thing to the professionals, but he's always understood that there's a time to be funny and a time to be serious. He doesn't really like showing off this side of him too frequently, though.

Character Background
Family:
Sunwhisker [Father] & Crestfur [Mother] Both deceased.
Dune [Alive. Brother. Adoptable. Suffix can be decided by the one who adopts him.]
Gullkit [Sister; stillborn.]
History:
When he and his littermates were born, they were a surprise to their parents. They were a bit more aged than most when it came to having a first litter. Crestfur had suspected after awhile that she was unable to have kits and in spite of both of their disappointed, they'd learned to accept that fact. So when she found out she was pregnant, the two of them were overjoyed and also a bit concerned. Unfortunately, their concern wasn't misplaced. It was a troubling birth - Crestfur became quite ill and had complications. Tragically, one of their kits, their only daughter, was a stillborn.
In spite of still having two healthy kits to look after, Crestfur was fairly heartsick and often would blame herself for little Gullkit's death. "If only I would have taken care of myself better" she would often mumble. Sunwhisker would try to comfort her the best he could, but nothing seemed to change her mind that it was her thought. Perhaps it was due to the fact that it would likely be their first and only litter, or maybe it was because it was her only daughter, it was hard to say. After awhile of this, her growing depression began to put a strain on her relationship with him - even more so when she began placing the blame on her two surviving kits. Apart from feeding them, it was really only Sunwhisker who ultimately raised their sons throughout their kit and apprenticehood - which is why Sandblaze had always felt more closer to his father than his mother. It'd often make his heartache whenever his mother would give him and his brother a sharp look.
No one really knew what caused Crestfur's death. Some say it was due to illness, she'd never really recovered fully after having her litter, and others blamed it on her heartache and depression. Either way, it happened during the night. She ended up passing away in her sleep and Sandblaze's father always told his sons that even though he'd miss her, he was glad that she had perished in that manner. "At least she didn't have to suffer more than she had to." He'd told them after she died.
Personally, Sandblaze had mixed feelings about her death. He did grieve alongside his brother and father, but he was also upset with his mother for neglecting her surviving family. She'd robbed him and his brother of a mother, and his father a mate and it took him a bit of time to get over that internal bitterness. He was thankful that he still had his brother and father - Dune and him had always been very close to one another and knew each other like the back of their own paws. Even though he was fairly close to his father, he always had a firm connection to Dune and he loves him very much so.
After their father passed away due to being badly stung by a stingray, the two brothers drew even closer and they'll often look after each other whenever they have the chance to. Sandblaze was always relieved that their father survived to see the day him and his brother became warriors, but he still finds himself missing his father whenever he comes across something that reminds him of him.
