09.12.2019 → Unfortunately Elaedria is stepping down as administrator due to life being too busy to keep up! The site will be going through some restructuring in high ranks as well due to this. Effective immediately, the word count is now 100 minimum. Some more changes will be coming in the future - members have been emailed a survey to help us figure out what to change and how to get better. Thanks for your patience! - Artemis
WEATHER
Year 55, Scorching Sands 09.05.2019 → The temperatures of the islands are a steady 98° F on land/ high 80s in water. There is almost no breeze, the sun is uncomfortably warm.
Prey during the day is pretty scarce due to the heat, however is quite active after the sun goes down.
Lost in the dense jungles of scattered islands, facing perils unimagined by their ancestors, are three warrior groups - The traditional JungleClan, descendants of the original clans carried aboard a twoleg contraption from their home long ago and breaking new ground on old beliefs. Second, the curious TidalClan, made up of kittypets who chose to abandon their long since passed twoleg civilization ways for those of true felines. Lastly, the mysterious Tribe of Twisted Roots, hidden in the mist from others with their strange ways and a deeper knowledge of the land around them. Together they must learn how to take their fate into their own paws if they wish to survive this land of erupting mountains and roaring waters.
Join our crew and dive into an island-based Warriors roleplay - a twist on the original series by Erin Hunter. We are a semi-literate site with a minimum of 100 words per post.

A sickness so bad that it was dubbed red cough ripped through JungleClan and forced the ancestors to step in with omens to all clans. This is what eventually drove the two clans to meet the Tribe for the first time. Once the cure was obtained, they decided that now they have been forced together by the paws of fate that they should meet up and have meetings between the three groups. Below is what happened, and what is coming next.
TidalClan
In TidalClan, things had been pretty relaxed since the death of Coconutstar. Since the rule under Coconutstar had been rather paranoid, she had plans to start up the expeditions again and explore the surrounding territories; perhaps even take more land for the clan. However, before these expeditions began the clan Healer had an omen. Turtlehop, the clan’s healer, came to Tinystar in the middle of the night and shared her troubling dream. In it, cats came running in fear from the jungle and splashing into the cold ocean. The God of Shrieking Storms descended from the sky to tell her to "beware of the red bark that runs from the Jungle.”
The two she-cats pieced together that the omen was likely warning of a sickness or something else entirely that threatened to drive JungleClan out of their territory. TidalClan and JungleClan were civil at this point, and so the two agreed it might be wise of them to send a patrol to the border to see if they had received an omen, too. Tinystar and Turtlehop were acting partially out of wanting to help their neighbours, but also somewhat selfishly. They wanted to ensure that if JungleClan was going to be threatened by something, they would also keep their own clan safe, too.
JungleClan
Toucanstar’s fall off the cliff was entirely unexpected for JungleClan, especially since Mosquitostar’s death was still recent. It was touch and go for awhile, as her injuries were pretty severe. She managed to pull through with Anispine’s skilled paws, but she had been injured badly enough that she was unable to continue her responsibilities as leader. Cue Ivystar’s entrance as leader. She had large plans for the Clan, ideas to explore the surrounding territories and take territory that would feed their growing numbers. However, everything came to a halt when a cat got sick and shortly after they got sick, they started to hack up blood. This strange illness terrified Ivystar to the point of ordering Anispine to quarantine the warrior, only it was too late. The medicine cat came to the leader once cats started dying, having received a prophecy from the gods.
Anispine told her of a storm, paws seeking purchase in tangled roots, the ocean bleeding red and their clanmates struggling to swim in the water, their ancestors alongside them until they came to land and strange shapes healing them. Disturbed by this message, Ivystar did her best to keep their clan alive, give them comfort, and be there for grieving families. She was curious to know if TidalClan got an omen as well, but she seriously doubted it. It wasn’t until Ivystar got sick with this terrible redcough that Anispine thought he would have to ask TidalClan for help.
The Tribe of Twisted Roots
The Tribe of Twisted Roots had known peace for longer than was perhaps necessary for the group. Growing antsy under moons of little to no conflict, internal strife had begun building amongst some of the more aggressive members. As some muttered about the young Quartermaster’s rise to power and the sudden disappearance of their Witch (leaving behind his partially untrained Swabbie), it was matters at home that had the Tribe’s attention..until Sand Where Stingrays Hide brought a midnight omen to Tempest Rages At Night’s attention.
He spoke of how he saw cats with red pouring from their mouths struggling across the waves, latching onto the Tribe’s land as their ancestors and the Tribe’s Gods mingled. An omen was given: “When shaky paws find purchase in your sand, steady them and find new hope”. Stingray thought the omen was a sign that they needed to help these wayward cats from the main island while Tempest felt they could be too large a danger to the Tribe as a whole. A heated discussion resulted in a compromise - Stingray could aid the cats if and only if they made it to the beach, and none would be allowed, healthy or not, to visit the Tribe’s camp or territory.
The Cure of Redcough
Tinystar led a patrol over to the JungleClan border to see if they had received an omen as well. However, once the patrol had arrived, the smell of sickness was so thick it was obvious the other clan was in trouble. At first no patrol could be seen, but eventually a small group of JungleClan cats met them at the border and delivered the news that Ivystar (among other clan members) had grown sick with a disease they had not seen before and that Anispine had received an omen much the same as Turtlehop had.
Together the two clans decided that with both omens laid out, the answer was obvious. The clans decided to select their healthiest warriors and fighters, letting the sick ones rest. Then the strongest began a dangerous voyage across the ocean to find the antidote. After several attempts, the Gods and ancestors blessed the journeying patrol with safe passage to the island of the Tribe. Upon arrival, the cats encountered a patrol from the Tribe (which included a select few of the more diplomatic members). Included was Stingray, who explained that he too had received an omen but with a different message - instead of seeking help, the Tribe would provide...for a cost.
Negotiations between the groups occurred, and an agreement was struck - The respective healers of the three groups would work together to find a cure, no matter the cost. Those who were sick would be given shelter on the beach, but borders would remain intact. An uneasy alliance between the trio began, continuing for the next moon. Many lives were lost between them all, but eventually they found that the cure was a mixture of ginger and a mysterious herb that only grows on the Tribe’s island. Thankfully once the cure was put together, Ivystar’s life was saved and so were many others who seemed doomed to succumb to redcough. The three groups has finally been forced together by the paws of fate, but their future lays ahead and it is unsteady. The three leaders decided that they should hold a meeting of the groups once every three moons to keep in contact and share any news, hopefully to prevent a sickness like this from claiming so many lives in the future. The meetings will be held on an otherwise unclaimed island which has been dubbed as Paradise Peninsula.
Little do the new tentative allies know...The troubles are not yet over...and that the mountain towering between two of them holds more than snow...
What comes next?
The next plot rolling out involves the Kingdom becoming known to the clans and tribe. There is also a surprise coming that involves a threat of danger to all of the groups. Stay tuned for more information on that coming over the next couple of weeks once the new high ranks get settled into their roles!
Firstly we'd like to thank any new members for joining us here. We hope you enjoy Chasing Dusk - we think that the community here is pretty dang awesome. Seriously, you guys make this site as awesome as it is.
We have a bunch of changes that have rolled out and we've popped it all in this fun announcement for you just to make things easier to figure out what the heck is going on! A quick announcement was made on discord tonight by our lovely Rosa , and to go along with that here are a few more details to dive further into.
As always, thank you everyone for your support and love. We have so much fun roleplaying and getting to know you all, we hope to make CD fun, engaging and welcoming for everyone!
Current Auditions (High Ranks + Staff)
There are a few auditions going on right now, three are high rank - and once was just announced which is staff: a Moderator in Training application.
All of the links are linked below for you to check out. We have had some excellent auditions to the Kingdom high ranks, but the JungleClan deputy could use some love. We have an interesting plot that will be rolling out which will affect jungle, but we need to have the high ranks sorted out in that clan before we can finalize the details and release it. Applications would be mucho appreciated so we can get that ball rolling!
As we're sure you've all noticed, our lovely community has grown quite a bit in the month of September! With things getting more active around here and the coming months and holidays should just bring more activity, we've decided to open up mod applications once more. Currently, there are two positions we're looking to fill, and those chosen will have a 2 week trial period as mods in training. Upon completion of those two weeks, we will discuss together with you, the MIT, on whether you wish to continue as a full moderator or not! Whether you become one or not, you will be compensated for your time via shells! These auditions will be open for one week, until October 9th! We have plans to introduce some more things to the site which will require more mod support so now is an exciting time to get involved!
These positions don't have quotas or specific activity requirements. As staff and high ranks alike are both pretty important to a site's success, as much activity as you feel you can give us is welcome! We don't want anyone burning out or to stop enjoying their time on the site, though.
It's that time of the month again! October is here, and it's time to look back on September and nominate some winners!
Thought there was a particular thread that stood out? Has a rivalry kept you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next post? Time to let us know! Nominate your fellow crew members on the link below in all (or any!) categories so they can be recognized for the stellar roleplayers that they are!
Each category winner will receive 1000 shells. You will also personally get 200 shells for submitting your nominations.
Tribe Cat Purchases → You no longer need to pay for these. The shop item will be removed. Please contact Artemis for a full refund (can't keep track of who bought/who won, so please make sure to ask for your refund or we may not realize you need one)!
Kingdom of Mokuhau → There's a new group of cats in town! All high rank positions are being auditioned for right now except for the heir which will come later as the crown leader is finalized. You can make one of these cats in the meantime, though! There is no fee for making a kingdom cat. Currently the clans and tribe are unaware of their existence, but this will change in the upcoming plot launching soon!
Upcoming Plot → A plot you say? Yes! The staff and high ranks have been hard at work (with YOUR feedback from the surveys) to release a new plot. It will be launching very shortly, we just need to iron out JungleClan's deputy and a few other little pieces before it gets off of the ground. You guys wanted some action and drama, though, and we are pleased to deliver some. What we can say at this point is all four groups will be affected, and it will also lead to the discovery of the kingdom in the mountains!
Predator/Event/Mother Nature Occurrences → You'll be seeing your friendly admins, global mod and moderators soon randomly appearing in your posts soon with interactive events. Examples of this could be predators, special prey, or even weather. This will add a fun twist to a thread that was previous unexpected.
Staff Promotions → The lovely nifty was promoted to Global Moderator! Congrats Nifty!
One VS Two High Ranks Policy
It's definitely been a hot button topic around the site lately, and we've been debating back and forth for some time now. We're happy to announce that staff will officially be coming to a decision on this tomorrow. We thank you guys for being patient and for all your wonderful input! It's not too late to squeeze your thoughts in.
→ Click here to add anything else before we review tomorrow!

Each group is run differently and are shaped by their leaders. The leader in the Kingdom of Mokuhau is called a Crown Ruler. The Kingdom is a monarchy which means that the power of the group is handed down generation by generation. Below are the current decrees of the Crown Ruler which act as the "code" for group since they do not have a Warrior Code. Below is all of their views on important matters.

This is the complete history of The Kingdom of Mokuhau. This post will tell you how they came to be, a bit about their background and where it all fits in with the site's timeline.
The Royal Court Crown ruler: Considered the leader, a descendant of royal blood and the original crown ruler. This is a high rank position.
Consort: This is the mate of the leader, but while highly respected is not considered a high rank
Regent: In the event that the crown ruler dies and the heir is not of age, either the consort if applicable or the eldest sibling of the crown ruler temporarily becomes the ruler. The regent is replaced by the heir once they are over 12 moons of age.
Heirs: The eldest kit is considered a high rank and is the direct heir - all other kits are called heirs but none except the eldest are a high rank. If the eldest dies or goes inactive a new heir is chosen from the remaining kits by the crown ruler
Shaman: The Kingdom’s healer and closest advisor, this position is considered a high rank
The Subjects Knights: The Knights are chosen from a young age to defend and fight. Typically large-framed and muscular, these individuals are often loyal, strong, and brave. Their apprentices are called “Squires”.
Scouts: The Scouts are those with skills better suited for tasks outside of battle and defending. They are the caretakers of the Kingdom and also are the ones who hunt and forage for herbs or supplies. Most often lithe and small, they are the fastest of the group. Their apprentices are called “Stewards”.
Matriarchs: The expecting or nursing mothers
Younglings: The kits of the group who are not old enough to be away from their mothers.
Gurus: These are the elders who have served their group the longest. Generally they are 80+ moons, unless retired early due to injury.
Each group is run differently and is shaped by their leader. Below are the current decrees of the leader and their personal views on the Warrior Code and other related information.
1. Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle. 2. Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory. 3. Elders, queens, and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders. If any warrior or apprentice is sick or injured, they may eat while the elders, queens, and kits are eating. 4. Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life. 5. A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice. 6. Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name. 7. A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice. 8. The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies, retires, or is exiled. 9. Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats. 10. No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is from a different Clan. 11. The word of the Clan leader is the warrior code. 12. An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win their battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or if it is necessary for self-defense.
Belief Level: All Ivystar knows is that the gods are real, and that she's terrified of the power they hold. She believes that StarClan is there, but that they dont do much other than interact through the medicine cat. She will trust the word of a medicine cat, but she's more of a cat who will put faith into her clanmates.
Relation With Gods: In dealing with the gods, Ivystar is positively terrified of them and the power they wield. If they wanted to, they could snuff her out of existence with merely a thought. She believes they are more powerful in StarClan.
Relation With Ancestors: When it comes to StarClan, she's not that scared of them. She highly respects the actions they have taken, their wisdom, and their advice. If given, their advice is held in high regard. Ivystar hesitates, but she would always listen to the advice of her clan and ancestors combined.
General Observation of Morals/Tenants: Ivystar is a devout believer of the original code, much like her predecssor, which doesn't have the rule for deputy. Please refer to the spoiler below for the full code.
Relation With Other Groups: Ivystar greatly respects TidalClan's stance, but much like Toucanstar, she is distant from them aside from when they need aid. She is currently eyeing the border with great interest, and is eager to receive new territory for their growing clan so they can feed the kits. She's unsure if she should attempt for a relationship with TidalClan. She is unaware of the Tribe.
Relationship: Ivystar believes they need more territory to feed their ever growing clan, and as such she is interested in reviving the off-island expeditions that Mangostar abolished.
Belief Level: His belief level is moderately high though his identity does not hinge on Starclan's existence nor the Gods'.
Relation With Gods: They are elusive, unknown, and more obscure than his ancestors; he has yet to fully grasp their meanings and powers but wishes to do so. Presently, he does not put his whole faith on the Gods but steadily realizes their strength over Starclan.
Relation With Ancestors: He trusts his ancestors but mostly takes their word as more like bare-boned guides than law. He will share his findings with the leader but it would be more of his reductive interpretation than the actual meaning.
General Observation of Morals/Tenants: Respect is like sweet-talk to him; if you respect him, respect the codes, respect yourself, Anispine has no qualms or grievances about you. In general, he has a hard time becoming passionate about morality; thus, he is not one to have strong opinions about anyone or anything. He actually fumbles when asked about his opinions, a user of "I don't care" to anything he would rather not put thought into. Though, to reiterate, he values respect and hard work more than a cat willing to throw their life away for the sake of the clan. He has also questioned the unwritten law of a medicine cat's voluntary celibacy in Jungleclan, as he never actually decided to become a medicine cat in the first place. He understands the reasons but even that is muddied and a bit faulty. Nevertheless, Anispine prefers to stick to himself and not rustle any feathers--and hopes others do the same.
Relation With Other Groups: Relationships with the other groups are... steadily building. Anispine is a loner through-and-through, and he would probably never consider the other healers in any of his decisions. As long as the all groups get along, he will be comfortable. As of now, Anispine is quite curious of the Tribe and their methods but less so of Tidalclan--fully believing they are just an iteration of his clan but just with different beliefs. He does not know of the Kingdom's existence.
Relationship: Anispine can seem a bit lost in his own world when in his den, sometimes forgetting that he is in fact part of a clan and thus needs to socialize. His approach to medicine is also very duty-like, more akin to a steadfast warrior than a crackpot medicine cat. He is generally approachable, however, and his bedside manners are pleasantly acceptable if not a bit bare. Lastly, he is less likely to actively check up on the populace and their health but has been fixing his attitude for the elders and the nursery; unfortunately, it may be a good idea to go to him rather than wait for him to go to you.
