WEATHER
Year 55, Scorching Sands 09.05.2019 → The temperatures of the islands are a steady 98° F on land/ high 80s in water. There is almost no breeze, the sun is uncomfortably warm.
Prey during the day is pretty scarce due to the heat, however is quite active after the sun goes down.
Lost in the dense jungles of scattered islands, facing perils unimagined by their ancestors, are three warrior groups - The traditional JungleClan, descendants of the original clans carried aboard a twoleg contraption from their home long ago and breaking new ground on old beliefs. Second, the curious TidalClan, made up of kittypets who chose to abandon their long since passed twoleg civilization ways for those of true felines. Lastly, the mysterious Tribe of Twisted Roots, hidden in the mist from others with their strange ways and a deeper knowledge of the land around them. Together they must learn how to take their fate into their own paws if they wish to survive this land of erupting mountains and roaring waters.
Join our crew and dive into an island-based Warriors roleplay - a twist on the original series by Erin Hunter. We are a semi-literate site with a minimum of 100 words per post.
[attr="class","scrolly"]Nightscreech is very fun-loving and open. He's a very loyal (if possessive) tomcat that will stick by his friends' sides no matter what. He can be very loud and pushy, but he's sweet and most of the time he's well-meaning. He's very open about who he is and is unafraid to push himself to the limits.
enemies
[attr="class","scrolly"]Nosy and wild, Nightscreech can be particularly meddlesome and not many cats like others butting in to their situations. His possessiveness and pushing others into things could be seen as wrong and unable to be tolerated, but that's how he is. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a few cats who don't like him very much.
lovers
[attr="class","scrolly"]Hooo, boy. Depending on how aware he is at certain points, Nightscreech can be subtle as a rock, smooth-talking his way into things, oblivious as the earth beneath his paws, or steamrolling his way through. It just really depends on how things pan out.
Nightscreech's dad! He's open for appearance, though preferably darker colors considering Nightscreech is a black smoke tabby with a little white. I imagined Ashwhisker having vivid green eyes like Nightscreech. Open in personality, though I see him as a family man. The reason I didn't put him in the history is because he was there for them, unlike his mate. He loves kits. He was already a senior warrior (possibly one of the older ones) by the time his kits were born.

Nightscreech's birth mother and mentor. Tempestclaw left her kits alone the moment they were able to weaned, attempting to have a strictly professional relationship with them. As much as she loves Ashwhisker, she does not like kits. She thinks they're whiny brats and whenever they come into the elders' den she attempts to avoid them. When she mentored Nightscreech, their relationship warmed up a bit but she didn't try to be a mother to him. She's open in terms of the relationships to the others, but Nightscreech has kind of a chilly/slightly warm acquaintenceship with her. She was a senior warrior (possibly one of the younger ones) by the time Nightscreech was born.

I have Rainleap listed as Nightscreech's siter, but she's actually fairly open to interpretation; including name! I would prefer that she has a dark coat color, maybe a little lighter than Nightscreech's?

I kind of see Hurricanefoot as Nightscreech's brother, but his name and gender are up for interpretation! Other than his appearance, which I prefer to be a little darker/lighter than Nightscreech, he's all yours!

Description sentence: A large medium-furred tomcat with a dark grey tabby pelt with white and piercing green eyes.
Appearance: Nightscreech has a very typical JungleClan appearance, with a large frame and slender to boot. He's a relatively skinny tom, well-muscled and long-legged. His medium length fur is tufty and wild, in a constant state of disarray and giving him a rather vagabond look. His lengthy tail is a little fluffier than his coat, extending to a tapered tip. His base color is black with hints of gray that give him a very smoke-like appearance, with darker black spots etching themselves down his coat. Down his legs, the spots widen and stretch into stripes. His tail has very thick stripes, almost like a racoon. There's a small streak of white near the tip of his tail, his toes white as well. Above his nose is a creamy, thin stripe that goes up to the bottom angle of his almond-shaped eyes.
His nose and pawpads are a dark gray, slightly lighter than the shade of his base coat. His long legs combined with his long tail and torso make for a very elegant looking cat, his face fairly long and wedge-shaped. His eyes are wide and almond-shaped, a piercing green shade identical to the jungle he lives in.
Personality: Nightscreech is... wild. He is a very outgoing tom, unpredictable in that he switches moods frequently and is found throwing himself off the Silverthread Falls when he can. Fun-loving and extremely enthusiastic about it, he lives off of the adrenaline rush and adores the feeling of the wind in his fur. He can be very loud and pushy, but he's sweet and most of the time he's well-meaning. He's very open about who he is and is unafraid to push himself to the limits. He can also be quite nosy, often butting himself into others' businesses and meddling a bit until they push him away. He can't help himself! Nightscreech genuinely enjoys helping others, which may contribute to his passiveness when it comes to arguing and fighting.
It doesn't help that he's not very good at fighting. He laughs it off, but he really doesn't like arguing or fights that come to blows. He's a tad manipulative, carefully choosing his words in order for them to calm down or managing to coax others onto one of his little 'adventures.' That said, as soon as his eyes are set on something, he's determined to see it out. Anything that he sees as his are his and nobody can tell him otherwise. A fiercely loyal Nightscreech may be a good or bad thing depending on how others see it, as he's very possessive and can be provoked easily when it comes to them.
Every kit's childhood is around the same or so. About two seasons after Mangostar died, Tempestclaw became pregnant with Ashiwhisker's kits. Nightkit and his siblings grew up under Mosquitostar's reign, tramping about in the nursery like all kits did at their age. They bickered and fought certainly, but whenever fights would come to blows Tempestclaw would sternly cuff them over the ears and sent them to the elders' den for stories. Their mother was already in her late moons, a senior warrior on the cusp of retiring to the den. She was a wile one, with a tongue of silver and their father was intimidating with his dark amber eyes that seemed to turn orange under the sun's rays.
They were both the same age, having grown up with each other. They hated each other at first sight, but over the years they came to love each other. With Orchidkit's, Rainkit's, Hurricanekit's and Nightkit's arrival, Ashwhisker gave them milk until they were weaned off. She left the nursery, leaving them under a friend's care and rejoining the warriors. Nightkit felt a little lost without her there, and in that time that friend became more of a mother to him than she had.
apprenticehood
While on good terms with his father, when Nightpaw got Tempestclaw as a mentor he was hesitant. She was a very hands on mentor, but as a mother she was not. It wasn't that hard for him to separate mother and mentor, considering their current relationship. However it was distinctly awkward whenever they got up for sessions or talked together. It was a professional relationship from the beginning, though as the moons passed and Nightpaw devoutly worked at his training, it grew warmer and into a friendship. Birth mother or not, she was family and he had accepted that.
However even as an apprentice, despite being hands on, Tempestclaw allowed him to go out of the camp whenever he wanted. He was terrible at fighting, but he was blessed with his hunting skills and he put them into good use by feeding the nursery and elders' den whenever he got back with prey. He had only gotten closer with his siblings, and as he grew bolder, he tentatively started circling around to the Silverthread Falls upon the dare of an older apprentice. The first time he stared down at the rushing water, he was scared. So, instead of jumping from the top he made his way down to a smaller ledge where he wouldn't seriously hurt himself and jumped off that. It was probably a foot from the surface of the water, and with it being that short he didn't get injured.
He stood there for a few minutes initially, wondering if he should go back, before deciding to go to hell with it. He leaped, and the rush of adrenaline through his veins had him going back there again. Annnd.. again. And again. This is where his character was born, then reborn. By the time he became a warrior, he was an entirely new cat than from his childhood. Well, not new. More like.. enhanced a bit. Tempestclaw caught on to this a few weeks in, having caught him out by the falls and had seen him on top of that little ledge. She scolded him furiously for jumping into water that could have something dangerous in it, but the first attempt to get him to stop didn't work in the slightest.
She attempted to cure him of this insanity by making him train both under the medicine cat and her for a few moons, but it didn't do much.
warriorhood
Nightscreech gained his name when he brought down a hawk when he was fourteen moons old, providing Tempestclaw with the means to send him on the warriors' trial. It was about time for his ceremony anyways, so his mentor sent him to Shipwreck Cove to bring back a treasure. He was also to survive three nights there. Once those nights passed and he brought back something small from the cove (a shell that sparkled when the sun hit it), Nightpaw gained his suffix. -Screech, for his outgoing and unpredictable personality. Nothing else really happened in his life other than the passing of Mosquitostar and the introduction of Toucanstar as leader.
He's a little uncertain to what might happen under her rule, as patrols between the JungleClan and TidalClan are getting increasingly more awkward for him. He doesn't want a fight to break out, as he feels that it is inevitable he's going to have to fight. Yet his passive nature keeps Nightscreech to the back of the patrols, keeping a subtle eye on the area around him for the herbs that he learned under the medicine cat's wing. He's honestly tempted to explore the islands out beyond JungleClan, but with the stories of the expeditions under Mangostar's reign intriguing him, he hopes that Toucanstar starts them again.
