Prey during the day is pretty scarce due to the heat, however is quite active after the sun goes down.
Lost in the dense jungles of scattered islands, facing perils unimagined by their ancestors, are three warrior groups - The traditional JungleClan, descendants of the original clans carried aboard a twoleg contraption from their home long ago and breaking new ground on old beliefs. Second, the curious TidalClan, made up of kittypets who chose to abandon their long since passed twoleg civilization ways for those of true felines. Lastly, the mysterious Tribe of Twisted Roots, hidden in the mist from others with their strange ways and a deeper knowledge of the land around them. Together they must learn how to take their fate into their own paws if they wish to survive this land of erupting mountains and roaring waters.
Join our crew and dive into an island-based Warriors roleplay - a twist on the original series by Erin Hunter. We are a semi-literate site with a minimum of 100 words per post.
Being woken up was irritating, as the swabbie had a most excellent dream of chasing a chameleon through the upper branches of a tree. With a groan, she shuffled around blearily. Squinting as her mentor left the camp without her and huffing slightly at the way Dragonfly didn't even bother to wait, Mamba let out an audible groan and blinked rapidly to wake herself further up. Ugh, it was too early for it to be this hot. It was almost stifling.
"Get up, Mamba. Time to go training, Mamba. Follow me, Mamba." her voice came out a little high and mocking as she strode past the prey pile. She paused to gaze at it longingly, only to reluctantly plod through the entrance of camp to attempt to find her mentor. "Dragonfly is a piece of toucan pee," she snarled under her breath as she sniffed firmly at the ground and tried to decipher what kind of smells were assaulting her today. "She could have at least told me what I was doing before she left, but nooo." Mamba parted her maw, muttering insults and complaints under her breath as she picked apart anything unfamiliar, tracing the older cat's scent through underbrush and over roots.
Her pelt tugged through thorns and at one point she earned herself a scar over her nose and some prickles that refused to part from her. By the time she tumbled through a particularly stubborn patch of thorns and briars, Mamba was out of breath and absolutely frustrated with Dragonfly. It was here that her scent was strongest, and she could not see the she-cat's distinctly ivory pelt on the floor of the ground so.. she must be up. Mamba couldn't help but be reluctantly impressed by the way that she had twisted her scent all over the forest to make the apprentice so discombobulated and irritated. As this revelation slowly dawned on her, Mamba immediately swore herself to secrecy. Dragonfly should never know.
Pale green eyes found the white she-cat on the low-hanging branch, and as only an apprentice would, Mamba sighed loudly. "Aren't you the biggest monkey butt." she stated dryly, not even giving it a questioning lilt as an unimpressed expression settled on her face. "Thanks by the way." The gray-brown, heavily striped pelt of hers was an absolute mess, with prickles and small scratches all over her face and bottom of her paws.

The wind generated from their burst of speed felt good in her thick coat, producing a heady feeling as she shot through the underbrush. Thorns tugged through her coat as she sped through the thick greenery, leaping over jutting roots, weaving tightly through the smaller trees, and ducking under the large roots that carved sharply over their heads was not just a race. It was a test to see how well her daughter would do, a test of endurance and agility. They would do this every morning, slowly increasing Laurelpaw's abilities until she could do so adequately or until she stopped running into trees and tripping over everything.
Ivytide skidded to a halt near the lake, her paws leaving slightly deep furrows as her paws dipped into the mud. She nearly somersaulted forward from the momentum, only able to keep herself from pitching headforward by skidding. She whirled around, eyes alight with adrenaline. She forced herself to breathe slowly and not pant from the way she pushed herself. She braced herself on all fours, tail flicking around excitedly behind her. "Attack me," she said firmly, ignoring the way how her voice came out as breathy and light. "I want to see your form,"
A wild, almost feral grin rippled across her face.

The calico turned her head fully to Tangpaw, tilting it slightly and letting her whiskers quiver as the apprentice twitched at the cold of the water. "I know it's cold," she said quietly, eyes dark and calculating as she took in the way that the apprentice forced herself forward. "You'll get used to it, and in the hot seasons you'll be grateful for it." She brushed aside the admittance that the apprentice had gone swimming before.
"While I'm teaching you how to swim, I'll show you my personal hunting techniques for the fish that live in the lake." Her eyes flickered sharply over to the orange-pelted apprentice at her comment of it being more challenging it than it seemed. Duskleap brushed it aside, tail swishing in the water. The coldness awakened her even further, sharpening her mind. "Right," she mused aloud. "Tell me how you would swim, and while you tell me I want you to kick your legs out in a paddling motion. I don't want you to panic and start flailing, you could hurt yourself. Swift, shallow movements in a churning motion. Memorize how it feels and how it stretches your muscles. Try not to move out, stay in one spot. This is called treading water." The she-cat swam out around the she-cat, stretching her legs out and moving slowly as she moved in a circle so she could correct where needed.

A soft 'mmm' came from the calico, her warm yellow eyes becoming half-lidded in thought as she plodded along. With a sideways glance at the little she-cat, Duskleap couldn't help the smirk that flitted across at Tangpaw's growing excitement as she woke up. Her chirpy response to the calico's first question drew another glance, yellow eyes semi curious as another 'hmmm' escaped from her. Only a little louder than her previous one. The she-cat paused for a moment at the younger's queries, not stopping in her walking as they drew ever closer to their destination.
"Swimming," the she-cat decided firmly, her eyes roaming over the glittering water and taking in the environment around her. The grass was a little damp under her paws, both from the morning dew and how close they were to the water. Her claws sank into the slightly marshy ground, drawing her gaze to the bright green leaves and arching branches of the trees nearby. In the distance, if she strained her hearing a fair bit, she could hear the roar of the falls as it tumbled down its jutting cliffs. "If you fall into the water while I teach you the other way, you'll be able to swim either after your prey or to the bank."
She eyed her ginger apprentice reservedly, a glint in her eyes as they came to a halt next to the water. "Have you been in the water yet?" she murmured, gesturing with her tail and privately enjoying the early warm sunshine on her pelt. "We're gonna take it slow, be careful. It's a little slippery and the ground up here hasn't quite dried out from last night." Unconcernedly and with all the grace she could muster, Duskleap stepped into the cool water and pushed forward. When she was a few paces from the shore and the water about half-way up her chest, she turned through the gentle tug of the lake to eyeball Tangpaw curiously.

He couldn't help the slight pout that he developed as she slithered out from under his paws to face him. However, the friendly fight had given him the adrenaline he had been seeking from launching himself off the falls. His blood roared in his ears, shooting through him like a bolt of lightning. If he wasn't still wet, he would bet his fur would be an absolute mess of static-y tangles. Nightscreech shot the black-furred leader an exhilarated grin, subtly admiring her long legs as he bent down to lick fervently at the tufts that had emerged from his collision with the ground.
At her words he couldn't help the amused purr that escaped him. "It was a good spar," he mused aloud, and with a slightly self-deprecating, mocking tone, he added: "Much better than trying to go higher and probably killing myself in the process. Seems like I forgot about my plans to go hunting." Her mention of the rest of her patrol to finish, and his green eyes flicked upwards from his impromptu grooming session. "I'll come with!" he blurted, suddenly enthused to go on patrol and find a lizard or two. Maybe a mouse or baby toucan- actually not a toucan, a parrot. Killing a baby toucan made him slightly ill, as thinking of one only made him think of the long-limbed leader in front of him.
He drew his tongue hurriedly over a particularly stubborn patch, flicking his gaze across towards the roaring falls, the sound a low, smoother version of the rumbling thunder during a storm. Ears and nose twitching as he admired the clear waters and bright greens around it, he couldn't help but pause at the sight of it before he bounded after Toucanstar. "..I'm kinda happy that our ancestors found this place," he murmured as he paced up to her languidly, arching his spine as he stretched. "I don't want to know what kind of territory they lived in before."
He tilted his head in an attempt to observe the sky through the dense treetops, a hint of vivid blue piercing through the leaves occasionally. "It's so vivid here, full of life." wide, leaf green eyes peered about interestedly, twitching the tip of his upright tail every now and then. Nose twitching and jaw parting for the scent of prey, his wide-eyed stare shifted to Toucanstar's with a spark of curiosity. notes nightscreech is in a very very good mood LOL word count somewhere around 400, i'm in a very musey mood
A sharp grin flashed across his face as he tumbled with her, paws flashing out and seeking for purchase to pin the taller she-cat to the ground. He was mildly surprised when he managed it, though the grin on his face was probably telling as she scrabbled beneath him, her paws uselessly flailing underneath his weight. Another playful growl emitted from her, eliciting a flash of heavily amused green eyes. Perhaps she might get loose of his grasp? This spar was quickly energizing him, blood rushing to his head and paws as they wrestled together.
Huffing his laughter aloud, his eyes gleamed at her comment. His paws sought out the she-cat's as she batted uselessly up at him and attempting to shift her weight so she could get out from underneath him. Not this time! he thought, ears and tail twitching as he leaned down further on him, attempting to make the front of his body heavier so she wouldn't escape. Green eyes glittering playfully as her attempt failed, he reached upwards to try to bat at her head and ears in a flurry of outreaching whacks to disorient her. Maybe he'd be able to make her back down with this?

Looking distinctly ruffled, Ivytide poked her head through a pair of branches that pulled away from each other in a tight 'V'. A rather stubborn baby chameleon in life dangled from her jaws, and the dark brown and white she-cat found herself judging the distance between her current spot and a spot on the ground that could hold her weight several feet away. Biting firmly into it's spine, her paws shifted against the bark, claws coming out to cling to the tree as she jumped from it. Sinking into her haunches, she closed her eyes and sent a brief prayer to StarClan before launching herself bodily out of the tree towards the rock with her legs and claws extended fully outward.
Any cats nearby would probably see an airborne form of their deputy fly from several feet into the air, before hearing a crash as she collided with large bush. Flailing and trying not to let go of her precious cargo, Ivytide struggled to pull herself from the top of a particularly prickly bush. A sour look on her face as she fell through an opening, several thorns dragged through her pelt as she tumbled to the ground with a thud. Her already ruffled pelt was even more so, some parts of it twinging in pain from the thorns in them. Ivytide was still distinctly proud of her catch though; the stupid chameleon had gone from branch to branch and had disguised itself so thoroughly that her teeth still ached from biting into the trunk.
Shaking out her coat and attempting to lose her irritation, Ivytide took a deep breath and started to count backwards from thirty. For a few minutes, she just stood there. Her golden eyes, glazed over from internal musings, were trained on a nearby flowering hyacinth. The she-cat withheld a sigh as she came back to, digging through the dirt to bury the prey there so she could come back for it. Perhaps her next try to grab some prey would be marginally easier?
Description sentence: A small grey she-cat with thick black stripes/splotches and pale green eyes.
Appearance: A small she-cat, Mamba is thin and wiry. Her slight frame and somewhat gray base is what gave credibility to her full name, and eventually her nickname. Thick black stripes and splotches mark their way across her body, not unlike a tabby pattern, but not quite that thin either. They somewhat resemble a leopard's spots, if a little bigger. In the center of each spot is a somewhat darker gray than her base color. Her face is narrow, with round-ish eyes a pale green shade. Her tail is somewhat thin, with a tapering point. With her long whiskers, she could make for a decent hunter.
Personality: Mamba is incredibly sarcastic, with a sassy and aggressive front that she gives to the rest of the tribe. She can be a little mean, inasmuch labeling her as a jerk who can be quite rude and upfront about things. She's also a bit of a workaholic, often working herself to complete exhaustion with little (if any) breaks. She's usually very observant, avoiding arguments when she can and using her clever mind to keep herself from being dragged in. She's very independent and quite honest, producing her quite blunt tongue. She can be quite acerbic and witty, with a morbid sense of humor and an indifference to current events.
Family: Crocodile that Snaps at Sky (Crocodile) [father], Echo of Flying Bat (Echo) [mother], Anaconda Hiding in Water (Anaconda) [sister], Hiss of Irritated Python (Python/Hiss) [brother]
History: Mamba's story begins with a tom-cat named Crocodile, who throughout his lifetime grew alongside a small she-cat named Echo. As kits, they hated each other on sight and would often accuse each other of things they were innocent of. The scuffled together, hurled insults aimed to tear down their confidence, and at some point their scuffles brought out claws. It got to the point where their respective parents came together to stage an intervention. They were both Swabbies at the time, and the intervention descended into an argument as usual.
Crocodile's father had had enough. With his mate and Echo's parents, they practically slaughtered the two in training. Any bickering or scuffles would be harshly punished by pairing the two together and remaking all the nests in the camp. Once, they would be threatened to be sent to the Island of Shadows in behave. At this threat, they stopped all fighting in front of their family and would do it whenever they were alone. As a result of being forced to go through punishments together, they eventually were forced to get along with each other.
Over time, this tolerance faded into genuine friendship, and when they were roughly twenty-four moons old, Echo was expecting Crocodile's kits. Mamba, Anaconda, and Python were born after a couple of moons and after six moons of wrestling and playing together, they are now swabbies.

Stifling her laughter at her daughter's grunts while she attempted to awake her smaller half was difficult to do. Whiskers twitching at the quiet complaint, Ivytide couldn't help the stern look she sent her daughter. "It is early," she murmured back, golden eyes settling on her daughter's gray and white form. Every time she saw Laurelpaw, it was like looking into the face of a younger Ivytide. Only Laurelpaw had a lot more white than Ivytide had.
She couldn't help the small laugh that she gave at her apprentice's sleepy questions. "We're not doing patrolling, hunting or anything like that. We're starting battle training, and if you're lucky I'll be teaching you to climb or swim later on, depending on how well you do." Peering around the two, she gestured with her tail for Laurelpaw to accompany her. "Come along, dear. Don't eat anything this morning, I'll bring something back for you later when you get back to camp."
As they slid out of the camp entrance, Ivytide gave the trees around her a rather commiserating glance. Though they had a glorious camp and territory, she often wished they were closer to the water. There was something about it that was soothing, despite her reservations about swimming. Even thinking about the motions brought a grimace to her face. "Maybe not swimming." she amended quickly. "Not today. Maybe I'll get Nightscreech or someone to help you with that part. I'm not very good at it." She returned her stare towards her daughter, then resumed walking at a slightly faster face. "I want to get the lake before the sun completely rises. Race you!"
With a slightly mischievous, warm smile aimed at Laurelpaw, the brown tabby form of Ivytide raced across the jungle floor at top speed. A careless laugh filtered through her throat, warm and bright as she challenged her daughter.
Blinking bemusedly at her apprentice springing out of her nest with a gasp, Duskleap couldn't even think of a reason to why the apprentice was acting like that. The she-cat's eyes were wide as she apologized, and the dilute calico couldn't help but roll her eyes slightly. "You're fine, Tangpaw. The sun has barely risen," she said quietly, tail flicking over at the horizon and tilting her head up at the array of shimmering colors. In the area of where the sun barely touched, the sky was still dark as it woke up to its brighter blue.
"Walk with me," the warrior murmured, yellow eyes gleaming with muted enthusiasm. As much as she was a serious warrior, she was still excited to work with an apprentice. Someone to order around during training and help clean up the camp was a good thing to have, she knew. Flicking her tail in the air and curling it slightly over her back, she bounded forward a few times. Her tail quivered and curled again as she looked behind her for the orange pelt of her apprentice. "I'm going to be teaching you to fish today over by the falls. Do you have any concerns? While we're there do you want to get swimming training started and out of the way?" Duskleap queried, head tilted slightly.
