NEWTSTRIPE
tidalclan ∙ warrior ∙ male ∙ 41 moons
Appearance
Description sentence:
A copper-colored tabby tom with golden yellow eyes and white paws.
Appearance:
Newstripe never flaunts his looks, although he has enough self-awareness to know he is handsome above the average. Well built and with fine proportions, Newtstripe holds himself with confidence and is very comfortable in his own pelt. His eyes are large, and a warm yellow color. His fur is a copper hue with tawny and black tabby stripes that are nearly symmetrical bilaterally. He has a white patch on his chest and white paws, typical of many tabby breeds. He was named for the the sleek and consistent texture of his fur, and the striking tabby patterns that were apparent from kithood. For this reason, Newtstripe loves the autumn, when the colors of his fur seem to match the outside world.
Personality
Positive Traits: • Confident • Charismatic • Humorous | Negative Traits: • Defensive • Indecisive • Weak |
Personality:
Newtstripe was an outgoing cat from the beginning. His strength lies in being able to socialize with others comfortably and confidently. This tom is guaranteed to cheer up whatever heavy atmosphere is going around with his laid back attitude. He loves other cats and enjoys learning about other's personalities. Even the most introverted, shyest newborn kits soon become comfortable with Newtstripe. He is rather soft-hearted, and will often give in to other people's opinions. It is hard for him to turn others down, and in the evenings he can be spotted running around doing errands for any cat that hailed him. He will give in to most requests, even to his own detriment.
That being said, Newtstripe is fairly self-conscious about his flaws and inadequacies. He is good at dealing with conflict, but only if the conflict does not involve himself. His popularity and flirtatious abilities often gets him into dramatic situations, which he has proven over and over to be poor at handling. Some cats talk avidly behind his back, starting nasty rumors about his friendly and romantic pursuits, all of which he is painfully unaware of. Others criticize his seemingly shallow connection with everyone in the Clan, and claim that despite his popularity, he lacks deeper friendships. Newtstripe reacts rather badly to these words and is often unable to tell malicious speech from constructive criticism. Although he is good with other cats, he is not so good at understanding himself, and can be rather indecisive and difficult when asked for an opinion. In the end, Newtstripe is actually a very simple cat. He has no huge ambitions and simply wants to live a life where he supports those he loves.

Character Background
Family:
Jaguarstripe (mother) - deceased
Grayclaw (father) - exiled
History:
Newtstripe's mother and father were a loving couple. He often mentions that his young days of kithood were the most blissful of his life. His mother was Jaguarstripe, a gentle, caring she-cat who Newtstripe was extremely close to. Jaguarstripe's litter was born within a few days of Coralnose's litter, and Jaguarstripe actively encouraged her son to play with the others. She did not want him to grow lonely because he had no siblings. Newtkit's father, Grayclaw, also took an active role in raising him and playing with him. Upon becoming an apprentice, Grayclaw had great expectations for his young son. Newtstripe still credits much of his education to his father in addition to his mentor. Throughout his apprenticeship, he became close friends with Coralnose's litter, including Brightpaw, Tinypaw, and Driftpaw. His flirtatious nature garnered the attention of both Brightpaw and Tinypaw, but at the time he had no intention of romancing them, and instead focused on training.
Not long after becoming a fighter, Newtstripe's perfect family life was shattered by his father's increasing ambitions and expectations of him. Grayclaw primed Newtstripe to expect the deputy position, something that Newtstripe did not actually want. At the time, Newtstripe was delighted when Tinyfin was appointed deputy. But his father was outraged, and had an argument with Coconutstar regarding the matter. In his anger, Grayclaw attacked Coconutstar and injured him. Although Coconutstar offered pardon afterwards, Grayclaw decided to leave the clan in exile rather than face the Clan in humiliation. Before leaving, he pleaded Newtstripe and Jaguarstripe to leave with him, to which they both adamantly refused. It is rumored that he eventually followed Twolegs to become a ship cat, but the rest that is unknown.Jaguarstripe (mother) - deceased

The betrayal absolutely broke the already aging Jaguarstripe. Jaguarstripe's health deteriorated rapidly, and she died shortly after. Through all this, Newtstripe still held his head high and refused to believe that his father was an evil cat. He blamed him more for his mother's death than for the attack on his Clan leader. After Coconutstar's death, Tinystar became Clan leader and Newtstripe's family history was mostly buried. His family's history has not one bit changed Newtstripe's warm, open, and humorous nature. However, this is not an issue Newtstripe likes bringing up and he is unsure if his childhood friends, Tinystar and the others, blame him for his father's actions.
