dragonfly hovers over pond
tribe of twisted roots ∙ navigator ∙ female ∙ 26 moons
Appearance
Description sentence:
A lithe and muscular marbled ivory she-cat with pale jade eyes.
Appearance:
Dragonfly has creamy, ivory-colored fur with rich dark brown marbling. The pattern flows like the flight of her namesake, and her pale jade-green eyes blend in with the rest of her seamlessly. She is very narrow in build, and she is light enough that she looks like she could be carried away by a strong breeze. However, she is sinewy and muscled beneath her pelt, and she can display feats of surprising dexterity. She can walk with ease on mangrove roots and she can bend and move like a leaf in the wind. Her slender build also lets her run incredibly fast in a straight line or weave around with precision.
Personality
Positive Traits: • Athletic • Daring • Moralistic | Negative Traits: • Closed off • Imprudent • Dogmatic |
Personality:
Much like the dragonflies around her, Dragonfly is easy to look at but hard to reach. Her potent athleticism means she’s always moving and hard to find, while her secretive nature keeps most at a tail’s length, even if they want to get to know her. Her need for movement mirrors her inability to remain at silent peace with herself. While she isn’t foolish, she is known to try and handle problems by herself, even if she goes in over her head. She’s seldom intimidated, and her daring determination means she can be reckless, with little regard to her own safety. However, it also means she excels at getting things done. She won’t turn down a task no matter how difficult, and she won’t quit until she succeeds. Another aspect she is absolutely reliable in are her steadfast morals. Wherever she stands on an issue she will forever stand, and she has no concerns about cutting out toxicity in her life in any shape or form. It doesn’t mean she won’t try to reason or to stop the threads from being cut, but she has enough self-respect not to fear it. She is good at seeing the bigger picture and her advice is often sound, but she can be overly-insistent when it comes to said advice, so it’s common for her to drive others away even if she means well. It’s her way of trying to bridge the gap of isolation she sometimes feels. She truly wants to improve her communication with others, but nothing worth doing is easy.

Character Background
Family:
Mother: Moth Flutters by Moonlight (deceased)
Father: Ocean that Meets Horizon
Sibling: Monarch that Migrates North (brother)
History:
Life from the beginning was turbulent for Dragonfly. Peace when her family was together was a rare spectacle, and it was a common occurrence for her and her brother Monarch to be pulled one way or another in the countless debates that sparked. It was something she was used to, something she couldn’t imagine ending.
But it did. How was she supposed to get used to the utter silence that became of her family when Moth died without warning? It dismantled her sense of normalcy, more than she thought possible. She needed a strong support structure, and she was lucky to have that in Ocean and Monarch. She could lean on them, and as she grew older, she could depend on them.
Ocean was a constant presence as he guided his kits during their training, and it was to the point where it almost became oppressive for Dragonfly. She went from excitable to withdrawn as a result, but Ocean’s methods and teaching style ingrained itself deeply, and she unknowingly adopted some of his quirks. Her own morals became unshakable, and it was then she began to clash with Monarch. He was ruthless on how he treated others and she was relentless on how others should be treated. It wasn’t a combination that could last, and the constant friction deteriorated their relationship.
It was more than easy to run away from what she didn’t want to face. Dragonfly focused on her own abilities and training, even as a navigator. She put her time into honing herself, but she knew avoiding her brother couldn’t last, especially when he was announced as the next quartermaster. She fell into pace with him once again, and while she is comfortable enough to continue giving advice, part of her is still unsettled by the shadowed path his paws dare to tread. She worries that another life-shattering event is on the horizon, and that she won’t be enough to stop their lives from tearing asunder once again.
