applebelly
tidalclan ∙ warrior ∙ cis she-cat ∙ 28 moons
Appearance
Description sentence:
A fluffy subtle calico she-cat with pleasant light-green eyes.
Appearance:
From most angles, Applebelly appears to be a large brown tabby and white she-cat. The revelation that she is not, however, comes when a cat faces her head on. The right half of her face, from maw to brow, is orange tabby. However, once a cat realizes that she is in fact calico, it becomes easier to identify the few bright, fiery dapples in her brown tabby markings. Down the length of her nose runs a white stripe, which leads to the dark burgundy triangle above her mouth. And, finally, her eyes. A pale yellow-green, Applebelly's eyes are neither striking or boring. They instead exist at the intersection of both: average.
Personality
Positive Traits: • Good-natured • Quick wit • Sensitive ears | Negative Traits: • Naive • Clumsy • Childish |
Personality:
A bumbling she-cat, the TidalClan warrior never quite grew into an understanding of her large, awkward limbs, but instead, it has become her personal way of walking, hunting, and, well, existing. While she may struggle with these things, her sharp mind makes up for it. With great humor, wit, and recall, Applebelly prides herself on having a great social memory. If a cat tells her something once, it's quite literally ingrained in her brain, which can be quite helpful when it comes to navigating social situations or new techniques.
Social situations, however, can be something quite difficult for Applebelly. She stumbles over her words, doubts other cats' intentions, and can be quite insecure. Others may find her annoying to be around if simply because of the kit-like wonder she still has with the world. She is entirely enamored with nature and all its sights and smells, which can be something other cats find amusing for a cat so far out of their apprenticeship.
Despite her flaws, she has a warm, inviting personality and can be an asset to any hunting patrol - if only for her acute hearing and not her accidental missteps.

Character Background
Family:
Mangowhisker, father, 46 moons, face claim.
Iguanastripe, mother, 74 moons, face claim.
Turtleclaw, sister, 28 moons, face claim.
Orangutanfur, brother, 28 moons, face claim.
History:
It was quite astonishing when young Mangowhisker, a tom just six moons into the warriors den, announced that he would be having kits with Iguanastripe, a she-cat many moons his senior. According to the gossip, Iguanastripe had long struggled to have kits with her old mate, Bitternwing, before up and leaving him for the young, fluffy ginger and white tom. Kits had been the one thing that she had failed at, time and time again, so it was a last attempt on Iguanastripe's part. If her young companion could not help her reach her goal of motherhood, then it would be time for her to simply leap into the ocean.
Her story was not always so dark, but Iguanastripe had borne far too many stillborn kits, and Bitternwing had been such a bitter fool, too. In reality, she had always been fond of Mangowhisker, and they really did establish a trusting and respectful relationship. There was not love but a friendship, which deepened upon the arrival of Applekit, Turtlekit, and Orangutankit.
The kits adored their father, but only Applekit stuck by her mother's side as long as she could. This was difficult if only because Iguanastripe had fallen deeper into a depression upon having the kits. She would lash out then apologize, uncertain what was bothering her. It was a difficult time, but the steady presence of Mangowhisker granted the kits the stability that they needed to be able to thrive.
Once they became Applepaw, Turtlepaw, and Orangutanpaw, the trio became inseparable. Sharing the same den without their mother allowed them to each grow in a multitude of ways. Applepaw became their pseudo-mother, doting over each of them. Turtlepaw became sassier than ever, though full of giggles. And, Orangutanpaw became their protector, always getting in scuffles trying to protect his family and their reputation.
Meanwhile, in Iguanastripe's journey, she finally came to the realization that she was trying to use motherhood to achieve a sense of normalcy, when really she was creating a prison for herself inside accepted norms. At the age of 54 moons, Iguanastripe came out as a lesbian, with Mangowhisker as her biggest supporter. For the first time in her life, the anger she felt subsided, and she began to build better relationships with her children.
For Applepaw, apprenticehood was when her sheer size started to become apparent. Larger than Turtlepaw and rivaling Orangutanpaw in size, her awkward limbs brought her more trouble than good. Aside from sparring and learning new ways to kick off enemies with her back legs, Applepaw struggled to be a "good" apprentice. However, her mentor ensured that she knew that there were many aspects of warrior life, which helped comfort Applepaw on her darker days.
Becoming a warrior was a dream come true, and the jolly she-cat received a name that reflected her joyous nature: -belly. It was her high spirits even in the face of her clumsy accidents that allowed cats around her to grow fond of her, laughing with her rather than at her. Though, some still teased her that -belly was really for her neverending, fluffy white underbelly.
Several moons into being a warrior, she fell ill with a cough that wouldn't subside for nearly two moons. Confined to the healer's den, she spent two weeks recovering before she could finally return to her duties. Being slowed down like that made her conscious of how the cats in TidalClan treated their elders. As her mother transitioned to the Elder's den, it became more and more common for Applebelly to be found there too, ensuring that there were always ears for their stories, needs, and wants.
