shoalclaw
jungleclan ∙ warrior ∙ cis tom ∙ 44 moons
Appearance
Description sentence:
A lithe, brown-black tom with bright yellow eyes.
Appearance:
Shoalclaw, while not large in appearance, is solidly built. His muscles often ripple beneath his pelt as he takes strides, crouches, stretches, or does anything, really. Fur the color of chocolate, he's a handsome tom with traits similar to that of a burmese cat. The darkest points of his fur appear as a mask on his face, socks on his four legs, and his tail. Outside of his pelt, his most prominent feature is his bright, yellow eyes, which can often give the appearance of glowing when caught in the right moonlight. Of average height, Shoalclaw is neither tall nor short but stands at the height typical for most of his clanmates.
Personality
Positive Traits: • Protective • Proud • Intelligent | Negative Traits: • Defensive • Overindulgent • Cunning (lost in thought/distracted) |
Personality:
When outside his family circle, Shoalclaw can often be described as quiet. However, he is really just lost in thought or listening. The tom is incredibly intelligent, and he thinks highly strategically when it comes to most situations. While he is a fighter, his strengths lie more in hunting and defense. To Shoalclaw, conflict has its time and place, which typically means it is necessary when his family comes into play. Despite not having a great family life prior to having kits of his own, the tom fell into step quickly with being a father. His daughters can truly do no wrong in his eyes, meaning he is blind of their faults.
A rather cunning tom, Shoalclaw isn't afraid to speak his mind regarding the scum living in TidalClan, and he is first to support efforts to take more of their land. He is loyal to JungleClan above all (aside maybe his family), which can either be a good or bad thing depending on the situation. He is hands on, preferring to act than sit and debate each solution with a group, though, yet again, this can be a more treacherous option in some situations. Thankfully, with his ideas and quick thinking, he can nomally act in a way that is supported in some way by his rationale.

Character Background
Family:
Puffinhop, mother of children, adopted by seaoi.
Cinnamon-, daughter, adopted by doe.
Cocoafur, daughter, played by Rosa.
History:
Things would have gone better had his father left. In fact, it wasn't uncommon for Shoalkit to pray to StarClan that, should they take his father from them, he would be the most devout cat there ever was. However, praying never worked, and the abusive onslaught of the tom that had sired him continued. It was an unpleasant upbringing, with his sisters bearing the brunt of it silently while Shoalkit tried to stand up for them all.
It didn't work, though.
Fighting his father, especially as a kit or apprentice, was meaningless. There was nothing someone so young could do, aside from appealing to his mother or maybe the deputy or leader. But nothing, or no one, stopped the name-calling, the tortuous words, and the treatment that Shoalkit received alongside his mother and sisters.
It made him never want to have his own children, for fear that he would become his own father.
So, when Shoalpaw fell for a she-cat for the first time, he vehemently hid it from everyone, even her. Love could do nothing but bring about fathehood, which would mean that he would be ruining another cat's life. It wasn't until he witnessed his mentor become a father that Shoalpaw realized that each cat chose what kind of parent they would be.
Watching his mentor dote on his kits, treating them like they were the most important cats to ever walk the earth, changed something inside of Shoalpaw. It made him unafraid to fall in love, to pursue a mate, and to have kits of his own.
Navigating the world of she-cats was another thing entirely, however.
It wasn't until several moons after he became a warrior that Shoalclaw found Puffinhop. Soon after, their kits were alive, beautiful bundles of joy that softened the heat of even the most stoic tom: their father. Immediately, his wold revolved around Cinnamonkit and Cocoakit. Nothing could bring him away from them. Even on his long patrols, every step he took was for them, each bit of prey was dedicated to them, every waking moment of his life- for his daughters.
Watching them grow up made him complete.
It was a far, far cry from the kithood he had experienced and done his best to forget. With two doting, overindulgent parents, it was shocking that Cinnamonkit and Cocoakit were ever allowed to become apprentices, let alone warriors! Their father, overprotective to a tee, must have felt as though he was watching from every turn.
Once they became warriors, though, he began to back off. It was then that he found himself becoming more dedicated to being the best warrior he could possibly be. Offering to lead patrols, head up the guarding shifts that no one wanted, and so on. Serving others became a priority, even if he never said it out loud- he's much too proud for that. However, ensuring that his clan is as strong and powerful as it can be is just another way of making sure that his daughters are as safe as can be.
