* Both. Tinystar had chosen both. Newtstripe was rather unsurprised; both was the safest option, even if Tinystar had not intended it to be. Why would she show any inkling of favoritism between her deputy and a senior fighter? However, Newtstripe still felt a wash of disappointment. He kind of wished Tinystar would show some sort of favoritism. Even if it was for Sharksong. Because then at least Newtstripe could have a hint as to where her interests lie.
[break][break]
When he was a much younger cat, he would have preferred to flirt with Tinystar and maybe he would have even enjoyed some competition about it. But Newtstripe was 40 moons now, and a mate and family were definitely on his bucket list. It had taken Newtstripe a while to figure out his feelings. He was not very good at it. He knew all too well what love was, unfortunately. It was just that in his younger days, he had never felt it so seriously before. It had always been she-cats falling for him, and not the other way around.
[break][break]
"You're right," he dared to give Tinystar a flirtatious wink, and then purred in approval at her choice. "Why pick one if you can have both?"
[break][break]
It was a pointed question, really. In the case of tom cats, you can't really have both.
[break][break]
He had to be careful. The Clan Chief was not any other she-cat. A wrong move could lead to a lot of awkwardness and some nasty rumors. He did not want to be seen as grabbing power or even stealing Tinystar's attention. He was not that kind of cat. Newtstripe's gaze fell over Sharksong. He sighed and wondered if it was alright for the younger tom to take the first bite. Sharksong had not even offered to Tinystar to eat first. Well, if Sharksong was not going to be the gentleman, Newtstripe certainly was.
[break][break]
"You first," he motioned softly at Tinystar. "I bet it has been forever since you've allowed yourself a proper meal."
