Second, the curious TidalClan, made up of kittypets who chose to abandon their long since passed twoleg civilization ways for those of true felines. Lastly, the mysterious Tribe of Twisted Roots, hidden in the mist from others with their strange ways and a deeper knowledge of the land around them. Together they must learn how to take their fate into their own paws if they wish to survive this land of erupting mountains and roaring waters.

The rush of adrenaline that flowed in his veins was absolutely electrifying. It was an addicting sensation, one that made him feel high after a particularly enthusiastic run. Especially if his energy was all spent up and he was running back and forth in front of the beach like a demon possessed. Now, he was stretched out between the small ledge as he aimed directly for the water. He crashed into the water, the cool sensation a nice sensation against his fur.
It was pretty hot out today, the falls a silvery sheet that plowed into the water. It roared in his ears, a background noise to his thoughts as he enjoyed the feeling of the water against his fur. It was a really nice day, but the grass was a little wet from the earlier light shower. That wasn't too big of a trouble, he didn't mind his paws getting wet. Maybe if he brought a piece of prey back home on his way back?
It'd be awhile before he left anyways, so mayhap he would grab a mouse or something before getting back in the water. ..Yeah. That sounded nice. His paws cut through the water as Nightscreech slithered over to the rocky banks, looking much like a water snake before he pulled himself out. Black fur plastered against his coat, he reflexively shook it out to free himself of a little water. Legs kicking and tail kinking over his back, he abruptly decided to ignore his rumbling stomach and instead roll on top of the ground and soak in the heat for a minute.
..Nah. He wouldn't go hunting quite yet. Nightscreech circled around to the ledge again, pupils wide as he launched himself off of it again and came crashing back down into the water.
[attr="class","tsbody"] Toucanstar had set out for the day to inspect her territory and make her round near the single border she had. Although it was usually frowned upon for her to do such a task alone, she wasn't quite in the mood this afternoon to deal with a patrol of cats following behind her every pawstep. While she appreciated the way that cats fell into line as she walked through the camp, she was beginning to miss how she could blend into the background even as a deputy. Now, she was the center of attention at all times - the only true break she was able to get was when she was outside of the camp walls and on her own. [break][break]
The day was sweltering hot. She could feel the heat searing into her black pelt, the moisture leaving her mouth as she drew in the scents of the jungle, and the warmth of the ground heating beneath her paws with each step she took. They could use some more rain, and definitely a breeze, but today was completely calm, the water of the bay laying almost completely flat with no wind to push it into crests. Such a hot day drew the leader to the falls that marked almost the center of her territory, looking to quench her thirst. [break][break]
What she wasn't expecting to find was one of her warriors throwing himself off the falls. Again. And again. The black she-cat stalked beneath the trees near the falls, her ears drawn back against her skull. How did he find the time to goof around like this? How did he justify playing like a kit in the waterfall when there were hungry kits and elders in the camp? A low growl rumbled through her chest as she watched him once again ascend to his ledge, and launch himself clear off of it again.[break][break]
As he dove into the water with a crash, the tall leader had finally had enough. She stood up, head held high and ears perked forward while her tail lashed from side to side. Her orange eyes displayed not anger, but calm annoyance - a bit of a playful tinge. If he had enough energy to continuously toss himself off of a waterfall, she would show him a better way to spend his energy. "Nightscreech!" she called out, a short, snarking laugh pushing its way past her canines. "Since you have enough energy to spend it jumping from the falls, how about you spend some in a more productive way?" a smirk rose to her features as she stalked closer to the shore. "Come on, let's spar - I could use a distraction."
Water rushed into his mouth, running down the wrong pipe as he heard out a loud call of his name. He spluttered and coughed, choking slightly as his limbs flailed slightly. His face burned, something sinking in his gut as he eyed the tall form of his leader. Claws sinking into the somewhat damp ground as he hauled himself out, Nightscreech shook out his drenched pelt lightly and eyed Toucanstar uncertainly. The energy was still pulsing through his veins, not yet tempered by his foray into leaping off the waterfall ledge.
A spar sounded like a good idea, one that would better exercise his muscles. However, this was Toucanstar. Nightscreech had to strongly suppress the urge to scream at the top of his lungs and flee. He was distinctly wary (if not outright afraid) of his leader. She had the power to pretty much do anything in the Clan. She currently lead them all with a firm paw and tongue, and even thinking of getting on her bad side had the tomcat's mouth and throat go dry. "S-sure."
This would probably end badly, on his end. He wasn't a particularly good fighter. His talents were more towards hunting and some healing. Swallowing down his fear, Nightscreech took a brief step back before launching himself at the leader, head jutted out and ears flattened to attempt to knock her down.

[attr="class","tsbody"] Toucanstar watched the tom struggle to raise himself out of the water as he coughed and spit up what he had gotten into his lungs. The entire time, her facial features remained passive and unwavering, golden eyes trained on his form as it moved closer to her. The tall leader shifted her weight from side to side, ebony claws digging into the pliable earth beneath her as she contemplated her first move. It was unlike her to provoke others when she was angry. But, she thought the best way to drill her point into Nightscreech was to literally, not figuratively, beat it into him. [break][break]
She could talk for hours on end about how important it was to do everything within your abilities to help your clan, but at the end of the day, it was all talk. She needed to show him what was needed of him, to show him that he still had room to grow and that he could be better than he was. If he lacked the initiative on his own to do right by his clan, she would force her own initiative onto him until he understood himself how vital even just one warrior was to the health and prosperity of the Clan.[break][break]
The midnight black she-cat watched him hesitate as he heard her dictation, saw him mull it over in his head with the trepidation of someone who knew her capabilities. Good, she thought, he understands what he did wrong. With a smirk, she raised her head up higher yet at his stutter. But understanding wasn't enough, knowing and acting on that knowledge were two very separate things. She made a note that more patrols were in his future, and more shifts as a guard as well. [break][break]
Too caught up in her own mind, he was tumbling into her before she had a moment to react. With a dull thud, the large tom shouldered into her, catching her square in the chest and shoving the air from her lungs with a definitive heave. She stumbled back and before she knew it, was sprawled out onto the lush grassy floor. A playful growl escaped her lips as she dug her claws into the ground to gain footing and not get pressed back further. Toucanstar ducked her head low, hoping that Nightscreech would land near her. If he did, she would shoulder her way under his chest and shove upward, attempting to not only knock him off his feet, but also hopefully a few paces away from herself as well. [break][break]
Surprise ran through him when he made contact with her, his shove into her chest causing an explosive huff to escape the other's throat. Her stumble backwards as she fell onto the ground was also surprising, but he was still surprised he made contact at all. A playful growl emitted from Toucanstar as she came back up, but Nightscreech was still remarkably shell-shocked that he had made contact with the she-cat. This caused him to let out a shocked warble as the she-cat slithered underneath him, shouldering the tomcat on top of her. A loud whuff escaped him as he was abruptly flung into the air, his body twisting in midair as he collided to the ground and landed on his back with a harsh exhale. That was painful.
Nightscreech shoved himself to his feet, shaking off the pain radiating his his back and returning her playful growl with one of his one. Bright green eyes gleamed playfully, wet black fur sticking up in various messy spikes and causing him to resemble somewhat like a porcupine. "You wanna go?" he murmured as he sank into another crouch, voice high-spirited and an impish smile on his face. "Let's go." He bodily launched himself at the she-cat, attempting to roll over the other and pin her down.

[attr="class","tsbody"] Toucanstar honestly didn't expect her attempt to shoulder him away to work as well as it did. Though, she momentarily remembered that she did have a height advantage on Nightscreech. Her long legs were helpful in that regard, allowing her to tower over her opponents and also apparently allowing her to fling them across the battlefield. The black she-cat watched him slowly raise back onto his paws after landing with a dull thud and a wheeze of air from his parted maw. That definitely looked painful.[break][break]
At his returned playful growl, she let a smile raise to her lips. Her ears perked forward and her tail lashed from side to side as she lowered herself closer to the ground to brace for his next assault. This was starting to become fun. They had a good back and forth going - as a proper spar should, each one delivering blows but neither getting truly injured. Though, she couldn't help but laugh at his sharply pointed fur. It was sticking out in all directions like a half-drowned kit who found out what rain was for the first time, making him look more ridiculous than actually intimidating. [break][break]
Before Toucanstar could get a retort off in response to his goading her, he was in the air hurtling toward her. Toucanstar winced a tad, bracing for impact before he tumbled into her, effectively rolling her onto her back and pinning her beneath him in one quick move. The lanky she-cat's paws flailed uselessly as her breath was shoved from her lungs on impact, a short playful growl echoing from her chest as she drew in air once again.[break][break]
"Nicely done!" she commented shortly, trying to get her paws under the tom in order to shove him off. Hopefully, she could push just enough to get him to lose balance and then she could roll out from underneath him. Mostly, she just wanted to ensure she wasn't pinned for more than a moment, a playful smile still smeared across her features.[break][break]
A sharp grin flashed across his face as he tumbled with her, paws flashing out and seeking for purchase to pin the taller she-cat to the ground. He was mildly surprised when he managed it, though the grin on his face was probably telling as she scrabbled beneath him, her paws uselessly flailing underneath his weight. Another playful growl emitted from her, eliciting a flash of heavily amused green eyes. Perhaps she might get loose of his grasp? This spar was quickly energizing him, blood rushing to his head and paws as they wrestled together.
Huffing his laughter aloud, his eyes gleamed at her comment. His paws sought out the she-cat's as she batted uselessly up at him and attempting to shift her weight so she could get out from underneath him. Not this time! he thought, ears and tail twitching as he leaned down further on him, attempting to make the front of his body heavier so she wouldn't escape. Green eyes glittering playfully as her attempt failed, he reached upwards to try to bat at her head and ears in a flurry of outreaching whacks to disorient her. Maybe he'd be able to make her back down with this?

[attr="class","tsbody"] Toucanstar flailed uselessly against the heavier tom, a short half-growl, half-laugh rumbling from her maw as she struggled underneath him. The ebony she-cat scrunched up her face in a sneer at the mouse-dung eating smile that was plastered on his face, her ears flushing red in embarrassment at being stuck underneath him. It was unfortunate, but the one thing that the lanky leader wasn't, was strong in a close-quarter brawl. She preferred to attack from afar and avoid situations such as this. Her long legs made it difficult to find purchase on his sleek chest, so she decided to change tactics.[break][break]
Instead of trying to figure out a way to counter-attack the tom, she sharply turned to her right, claws digging into the soft ground under them to grasp hold of and pull herself out from underneath him, right at the same time that his paws tried to come down on her skull. She ducked her head further under him, just out of reach of his paws unless he wanted to stand up further and allow her a chance to escape.[break][break]
Which, if all went well, she would be able to scurry out from under him and turn to stand and face him at her full height - an endearing smile curving her lips upward in enjoyment. This was a much better way for him to spend his time. Sure, she hadn't gotten a chance to actually best him in combat, but it was enough to perhaps get her point across. Besides, it seemed as though he enjoyed spending his energy refining his skills instead of uselessly jumping from a waterfall. The interaction was refreshing, each movement unexpected from the other combatant. She imagined that the falls would get repetitive, especially considering they never changed. They were always falling at the same speed, the same grace, the same rumble of water rushing through the air. [break][break]
"Well done, Nightscreech! That was a good spar," she said with a soft laugh, eyes aglow with excitement. "Next time you have the urge to go tumbling over those falls, come find me. There's plenty of ways to put that energy to good use to help the Clan," [break][break]
Unless he had something further to say, she would dip her head and turn with a flick of her tail "I've got the rest of my patrol to finish, if you'd like to tag along you can, otherwise I'll see you back at camp," [break][break]
He couldn't help the slight pout that he developed as she slithered out from under his paws to face him. However, the friendly fight had given him the adrenaline he had been seeking from launching himself off the falls. His blood roared in his ears, shooting through him like a bolt of lightning. If he wasn't still wet, he would bet his fur would be an absolute mess of static-y tangles. Nightscreech shot the black-furred leader an exhilarated grin, subtly admiring her long legs as he bent down to lick fervently at the tufts that had emerged from his collision with the ground.
At her words he couldn't help the amused purr that escaped him. "It was a good spar," he mused aloud, and with a slightly self-deprecating, mocking tone, he added: "Much better than trying to go higher and probably killing myself in the process. Seems like I forgot about my plans to go hunting." Her mention of the rest of her patrol to finish, and his green eyes flicked upwards from his impromptu grooming session. "I'll come with!" he blurted, suddenly enthused to go on patrol and find a lizard or two. Maybe a mouse or baby toucan- actually not a toucan, a parrot. Killing a baby toucan made him slightly ill, as thinking of one only made him think of the long-limbed leader in front of him.
He drew his tongue hurriedly over a particularly stubborn patch, flicking his gaze across towards the roaring falls, the sound a low, smoother version of the rumbling thunder during a storm. Ears and nose twitching as he admired the clear waters and bright greens around it, he couldn't help but pause at the sight of it before he bounded after Toucanstar. "..I'm kinda happy that our ancestors found this place," he murmured as he paced up to her languidly, arching his spine as he stretched. "I don't want to know what kind of territory they lived in before."
He tilted his head in an attempt to observe the sky through the dense treetops, a hint of vivid blue piercing through the leaves occasionally. "It's so vivid here, full of life." wide, leaf green eyes peered about interestedly, twitching the tip of his upright tail every now and then. Nose twitching and jaw parting for the scent of prey, his wide-eyed stare shifted to Toucanstar's with a spark of curiosity. notes nightscreech is in a very very good mood LOL word count somewhere around 400, i'm in a very musey mood
