Lost in the dense jungles of scattered islands, facing perils unimagined by their ancestors, are three warrior groups - The traditional JungleClan, descendants of the original clans carried aboard a twoleg contraption from their home long ago and breaking new ground on old beliefs. Second, the curious TidalClan, made up of kittypets who chose to abandon their long since passed twoleg civilization ways for those of true felines. Lastly, the mysterious Tribe of Twisted Roots, hidden in the mist from others with their strange ways and a deeper knowledge of the land around them. Together they must learn how to take their fate into their own paws if they wish to survive this land of erupting mountains and roaring waters.
Join our crew and dive into an island-based Warriors roleplay - a twist on the original series by Erin Hunter. We are a semi-literate site with a minimum of 100 words per post.
Ooooh, I like that! Cocoa would definitely not get along with Crane. Moreso because of her attitude than what she's done, but the result is still the same. Cocoa doesn't back down from a fight or know when to quit so things definitely could've turned into physical conflict at some point and I think something between three of them would be worth exploring! Just the mentions alone in the thread make me want a thread between all of them right away so yeah, I'd be down to explore that a bit!
Sorry for the delay! But hi there! You're right on them having a lot of similarities. Taro's pretty distant for sure, and I think she'd probably fumble her way through the attachment. She wouldn't know what to make of it at first but I'd be interested to see on whether or not it ends well or as a disaster. Either way, it's definitely something to explore! I'd be happy to try them in a thread together! ^^

The meaning wasn't lost on Taropetal. Between the tom's doubting, almost incredulous expression and his less than appropriate tone, it was enough to make the more high-spirited of the clan bristle and her own spirits to waver slightly. But instead of reacting on the first impulse of somewhat disappointed anger, the she-cat simply waited, patiently watching the fledgling as he took in his surroundings. Yes, the lake was close and yes, they were still on the safer side that didn't flirt with the border. However, it was as good as any a place to start.
"This is. When the waters along the beach are too choppy to fish in, this is another place to try your luck. That'll be something you learn in a few days though. I don't want you getting too tired too early." Her gaze, fixed on the tom who at first seemed to wish he were anywhere but here, skittered off towards the distant green cliffs. Far off towards the rocky outcropping that scraped the sky in the distance, and poured life-giving water into the stream in a thunderous display, that marked places their ancestors had deemed too dangerous to explore. The border then had remained at the stream's head, something she'd have to show Bleakpaw before he grew too impatient with her.
Perhaps waiting wouldn't do him any harm though, as curiosity seemed to light the young one's eyes when he came to the realization of their destination. Maybe worth it then. She thought, raising her head to scent the air and make sure their path would remain unobstructed by predators that neither of them were prepared to take on. "We are. It's one of the most important parts of your training. Whatever you do, never cross that line." She had started to pick her way through the undergrowth again, gesturing with her tail for him to follow as she continued to speak. "We aren't hostile with JungleClan right now, but that territory belongs to them and them alone. They will not appreciate finding any cats of TidalClan over there even during a time of peace, much less an untrained fledgling who they aren't familiar with." At least the fighters had their scents to identify them. Even if they were tangled up with prey and JungleClan's own, they were somewhat known to the warriors of the rival clan. But that of a new fledgling? No, and she wasn't willing to risk the fragile peace between them for some curiosity. "If we run into any of them, stay close.

"Great!" Perhaps the Gods and their long-lost ancestors were smiling on the pair of them after all. As the older tom agreed to her proposal, the she-cat brightened slightly for a heartbeat. She hadn't been worried he'd turn down the offer; after all, they didn't know each other well at all and it could've easily been awkward after their encounter had ended in lost prey. Yet it seemed he was willing to let bygones be bygones and try anew.
Lifting her nose to the heavens in hopes of catching a scent, the fighter took a deep breath before her eyes narrowed. Prey seemed to be nearby but how close? It was hard to tell in this sea; the grass stood taller than their heads, dying vision an array of greens and yellows and masking both scent and sight alike. It seemed that her initial plan would have to commence if they hoped to get anywhere.
Looking back to the tom and blinking in surprise at Coconuttuft's opening, she hesitated a moment before letting her paws carry them in the opposite direction that the mouse had fled. No use trying to hunt prey there, nor where either of them had been. Only one direction was left to them.
It was only after a couple of heartbeats of silence that Taropetal realized the quiet was drawing out to an almost awkward length. Come on fishbrain, you know how to carry on a conversation! Came the internal self-admonishment before she asked in a hopefully not stilted tone, "How've you been, Coconuttuft?" Though she did not speak with much of the clan, she hadn't been entirely blind to the restless mood many found themselves in under Tinystar's leadership. But as to what the older tom thought on the matter (or how he felt about her ideas) she was unaware. Might as well take the time and try to find out if they were to hunt together.

Description sentence: A seal mink point tom with a ragged pelt, crooked jaw, and green eyes.
Appearance: Like many of the members of his clan, Goosehiss is built sturdy; low to the ground and short-limbed and, at one time, muscled just enough to not be considered lithe. Now, however, time has worn away at that muscle and turned it into extra weight carried in his middle rather than his shoulders. Truly, he is, for lack of a better word, slightly tubby in his old age, something only accentuated by fur that, though ragged, is still rich in color and thick. He is a seal point - His face, tail, and paws are a darker brown than the almost cream of the rest of his pelt, though the color has faded and spread as he grew older. More dusky in color now, the only cream appears around his eyes and mouth where old age has tinged it almost white.
His eyes, large and round, are a light green.
His most distinct feature, however, is his jaw. Injured moons ago during his warrior days, it never healed quite right, forcing early retirement and giving him a permanent (and slightly disgruntled) smirk.
Personality
Please list at least three positive and three negative traits for your character below.
Personality: Above all, Goosehiss lives up to his name. He is nowhere close to the friendliest cat in the clan, nor is he that agreeable. In fact, he tends to be quite the opposite - grumpy, exasperating, and a menace to the apprentices who are tasked with taking care for him.
Part of this stems from his injury. Never quite healing as well as it should have, his jaw forced the tom to learn how to adjust his life to better suit his modified skills. Through trial and error, he learned how to serve as a warrior even when some skills failed him. Thus, he tends to be rather severe on those who complain when faced with an obstacle, and he often looks down upon them as lazy if they are unable to find a way around it. Now, as he is older, he feels that he is surrounded by cats who do just that - complain and not work. This resulted in a tom bitter with his lot in life who is rather short-tempered and, with a rapidly failing memory, more often than not verbally voicing his thoughts on the faults of others (and himself) repeatedly.
However, not all is bad, as unlikely as that seems. For those that know the tom, they'll realize that below that need for perfection is an unmatched determination. In his prime, he would spend as much time as he needed to groom those under his care into the best version of themselves. It didn't matter to him how long it took - if they needed extra practice or time, he would give it to them. This combination would result in him being rather protective of those he watched and trained, though voicing this pride is another matter entirely.
Skills & Combat
Please list at least three strengths/weaknesses your character may have, such as: hunting, fighting, swimming, healing, etc.
Strengths: • Adaptability • Tactics • Teaching
Weaknesses: • Diplomacy • Hunting • Memory
Combat: • Defense: 14 • Attack: 1d20+4
Character Background
Family: Silverfin - Mother, deceased Two NPC brothers, one deceased One NPC sister
History: As one of the oldest cats of the clan, Goosehiss remembers much of the clan's history that many weren't even alive for. He's lived under countless leaders, through the latest eruption, and seen the last days of exploration. Despite the impressive list of events, Goosehiss's personal history has been rather underwhelming.
Born to an older queen who had known the cats of JungleClan when they were just getting started, Goosehiss never knew who his father was. His mother never said, and he and his three littermates learned quickly that it was better not to ask. Kitlife was eventful, to say the least - the mantle of leader passed from Stormstar to tnhe next, and the next, and the next. A time of confusion, perhaps, though nothing struck the young cat as important until he was apprenticed to a bright tom named Lemurpounce.
Bright and cheery, he made a strange companion to the even then grumpy Goosepaw. But odd as it may have been, it was the perfect match - the apprentice, dour as he was, learned not only warrior skills but general social ones as well. Those he would normally learn from his family (such as polite socialization, how to act during meetings, etc.) had not been passed down - his mother hadn't seen the need to discipline her rowdy bunch nor have much contact with them at all. As a result, Lemurpounce became something of a faux-father to his apprentice, something Goosehiss vowed to pass on when it came his time to join the warriors.
Which was exactly what the tom (named for his...opinionated personality) did. He found that though he was a decent warrior, his true skills laid in teaching. Many an apprentice would pass through his trials, becoming excellent warriors in their own right. One such apprentice was the young Toucanpaw. An energetic, arrogant little one, Goosehiss was firm in his belief that she needed more time to hone that personality alongside her warrior skills. Thus, she was kept back an extra two moons, though he didn't regret it - especially when moons later she was named first deputy, then leader.
Alas, Toucanstar would be the last warrior Goosehiss would train. One day while on patrol by Silverthread Falls with a few inexperienced warriors, they were set upon by a young but vicious boar. The battle was short - the cats fled, but not without their injuries as Goosehiss (caught between leaping a gap in the rocks or being caught on a tusk) found himself spending the next several moons in the medicine cat's den. His jump, though it had saved his life, had cost him - a bad judgment of distance had him landing wrong, breaking his jaw. Eventually, though he would be strong enough to leave the den, it never did heal entirely - he would live with the pain and twisted smirk the rest of his days.
Returning to the life of a warrior hadn't been easy, and it was he who found out he could no longer train cats in one of the most basic tasks - hunting. For his skills (never the best before his accident) were now mangled and, though alteration worked for him, could not be passed on. So for the remainder of his time as a warrior, he focused on battle tactics and patrols, preferring to focus on what he knew he could do rather than face what was impossible.
Around his 90th moon, Goosehiss retired to the elder's den, where he has remained ever since...much to his and everyone else's annoyance.
I've been enjoying them in the open thread we've got! I'm not sure if they could actually be friends (unless it was one stemming from spite and a general sense of "I dislike everyone/think I'm better and so do you so I guess we've got that in common") but I don't believe they'd be outright enemies either (they seem a bit too alike in some ways for that). Perhaps just a general annoyance to each other - But I think their interactions could be fun in the future!
nifty I can't promise that she'll be all that receptive (or maybe she will and Orchid would end up with a shadow) but yes! Either rivalry or teaching moment would be fun! Definitely should thread them soon! Just let me know! Always happy to make something or respond. ^^
