SNAKEFANG
tidalclan ∙ fighter ∙ female ∙ 21 moons
Appearance
Description sentence:
A lanky ginger she-cat with green eyes.
Appearance:
Snakefang's coat is an intense shade of orange, standing out like a sore thumb in grass and flora. However, against rocks and sand it blends in surprisingly well, making her an excellent hunter in her coastal home. There are a few spots of white on her pelt - one on her chest, another on her tummy, and more on her paws. Her back paws are white up to her heels, and on her front paws she sports only little white toes. The she-cat's fur is short but thick and soft, mostly devoid of visible scars and always well-groomed. Snakefang's build is much more like that of a Jungleclan cat, for she is tall and leggy, large in build but slender, lacking much muscle or fat on her frame. Despite the bright color of her body, her most identifiable trait are her eyes, a striking green shade that pops against the gingery orange of her face. Mackerel tabby stripes mark her coat, darker and more common over her shoulders, legs, and tail.

Positive Traits: • Intelligent • Well-spoken • Empathetic • Perceptive • Affectionate | Negative Traits: • Anxious • Shy • Asocial • Over-sensitive • Egotistical |
Personality:
Listen to all, talk to few. A bundle of anxious nerves, that's what Snakefang is. She is seemingly cursed with an intense fear, without rhyme or reason, that rears its ugly head when everything is objectively A-OK. The caution it leaves her with could certainly be handy, but to her it simply isn't worth how it makes her feel. On the other hand, she is intelligent, witty. She spends a great deal of time thinking, about solutions to problems or past mistakes. She is especially guilty of turning over conversations in her head again and again, sometimes finding insight and at other times finding slight, where perhaps none was intended. Her tendency towards being held prisoner in her own mind makes her a perceptive cat, with great interpersonal intelligence and mountains of empathy for others. She easily holds close friendships and wicked grudges, never forgets a name or face, and yet she finds making new relationships difficult. Snakefang prefers the company of herself and those she knows well to those she doesn't. Always nervous to mess up, to say the wrong thing or perhaps do some other social no-no, the process of making new friends is a laborious and exhausting one for her. She puts a great deal of energy and care into her interactions with others, which results in needing to rest and "cool down" for long periods, frequently alone. Unfortunately, she also catches feelings at the drop of a hat, which does not pair well with her other traits. Snakefang often comes off as aloof or mysterious, and when overwhelmed by anger she has an exceptionally cruel way with words, which tends to put some others off, but the reality is she is quite a kind and thoughtful, even overly affectionate, feline beneath her thick exterior. She is even, perhaps, a little too soft-hearted with how frequently something upsets her. While she encourages others to open up to her, she rarely offers the same, for she is a profoundly guarded cat whose pride cannot allow her to admit her fears and sadness to anyone but the very closest of friends and family, and even then only in passing. She resents the very idea of needing help in any way, opting to do most things by herself and to perfection.

Character Background
Family:
Tigertooth x Doveflight
Dunefur,
History:
Tigertooth and Doveflight were a pair of perfectly normal clan cats in every way. They were devout believers in the Gods, kind, helpful, loyal, and obnoxiously in love since they day they had set eyes on one another. They felt absolutely blessed when they finally had kits. Three lovely, perfect little kits! A big and strong tawny boy, Dunekit; bright orange and full of energy, Snakekit; tiny and delicate, Shrimpkit. The three were close growing up, and the sisters were close with their parents. They cherished the support and affection they received, as embarrassed as they pretended to be. Dunekit, on the other hand, preferred the company of friends. Come fledglinghood, the dynamic continued. Snakepaw received a patient mentor, who had her paws full dealing with her rambunctious trainee. She was love-crazed, immature, and like all adolescents thought she was utterly invincible. Snakepaw looked after her "little" sister, Shrimp-paw, acting as her sister's voice and backbone as the timid she-cat seemed to lack both. She was the more gentle of the two, and often served as Snakepaw's stable rock in the howling tempest of teenage emotions. The two were messes by themselves, but together they added up to more than the sum of their parts, each excellent at whatever the other was terrible at. Snakepaw had a new crush every moon it seemed, and every single one of them was "the one," whether they knew she existed or not. Frequently, they did not, and she would twist her heart into knots praying for them to notice her until inevitably she would move on to the next fling. Despite how trivial they were to everyone else, to her they were and still are some of her most painful memories. Not the most painful, though.
Such was the way of things, until only a moon or so before they were to become fighters. The two sisters, and their mentors, were travelling the length of the beach as they discussed the future. As if taunted by their hopeful conversations, a rogue wave came out of nowhere and swept the four of them into the sea. Only three made it out - Snakepaw and the fighters. Shrimp-paw was never seen again, and it changed her family's life forever.
Snakepaw became Snakefang, after the sharp biting tongue she developed in her sister's absence. It was like being bitten by a venomous snake. Her brother and parents reconciled, and all four of them became closer than ever. It instilled within Snakefang a deep fear, and a number of private neuroses. She feared being happy or hopeful, or even looking forward to the future, lest the waves come and sweep it away from her like they had taken her sister. Suddenly, everything she had worried about before seemed small, and her new worries were so big that she scarcely could see beyond them.
